G4's Microsoft Special: Rumor Debunked!

Posted by Stephen Johnson - Tuesday, September 09, 2008 8:09 AM

If you've been cruising video game news sites over the last couple days, you may have run across a certain rumor regarding hoopla surrounding the launch of the 360 fall update. According to an internet poster on a video game message board (usually incredibly accurate sources of information), on September 25th, Microsoft will "re-launch" the 360, announce a partnership with Sirius radio, release a dozen new demos and unveil 12 new games. According to the rumor, all of this will take place on G4, as Microsoft has rented our channel for a five-hour broadcast. One problem: It isn't true. At least the G4 part.

While we can't speak for the accuracy of any of the rest of this information, the part about G4 is totally bogus. Draw your own conclusions about the rest of the info, but if you've been waiting to TiVo the five hour Xbox announcement blowout on G4 on the 25th, it's not gonna happen.

We will, of course, continue to provide you with up-to-the minute info on any breaking announcements, unveilings and other video game world happenings, both on the air and on the web.

Darn, That would be sweet though. 1 thing. Remember Weird Al Jacking MTV in the 80's?

I heard Sony was launching the PS4, announcing a partnership with Pandora, releasing THIRTEEN new demos and games and was renting out the religious channel for a week and also giving everyone in the world who bought a PS3 a fruit basket and/or a gift certificate to bed bath and beyond. Its true.

HAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAAHH! That made me laugh.... up-to-the minute, thats rich, since when did you send any news (that wasnt about yourself)earlier than two days after everyone knew it?

I don't know about you but I ONLY trust G4 for any real info. There are some other decent places but even if it is 2 days later at least I know it is real instead of just a rumor. And Microsft already owns about 17 other cable networks, why rent 5 hour block on G4.

Um, like the Will Smith "Captain America" rumor piece that is right below this "newsworthy" pile of words. The rumor that was blasted and nothing has been done to remove or update the piece? Right, G4...always live, always up to date with the truth...(sarcasm added for flavoring).
