Sad news for gamers in Germany, China, and Japan as Dead Space, EA's upcoming survival horror game, has been banned due to explicit content. The game will release on October 14 for the PS3 and Xbox 360, with the PC version following shortly on the 20th.

UPDATE: According to Shacknews, the game is not yet banned in Germany, but is still under review by their ratings board. Still, we're going to guess it'll end up being banned.

The game, which evokes memories of System Shock 2, is shaping up nicely and looks to be delightfully bloody. The dismemberment system in the game is both satisfying and effective for killing monsters.
