Sony's PlayTV: DRM-Free In Europe

Here's some amazing news, if you're European: Sony's European PlayTV DVR add-on for the PS3 doesn't have Digital Rights Management. The thing just exports videos to your PS3's XMB menu as MPEG-4 video, allowing you to transfer your video to other devices, stream it elsewhere and otherwise do whatever you'd like with your content.

Whether this is a feature or an oversight remains to be seen. It seems more than a little strange that Sony would allow this kind of free reign with content, so there may be a patch soon. But until then, enjoy, Europeans.
