Honda has unveiled its newest re-tool on the hybrid and, mainly because of price point, the 2010 Honda Insight could be a Prius killer. As the technology advances and the market bears more demand for hybridization, prices are naturally going to come down.
The new Insight is going to be priced at $18,500 and it brings no major innovations to the hybrid world, other than being the cheapest yet available. The Insight relies on the standard practice of a gasoline engine that only runs when necessary and the charging of a battery when braking or decelerating. There is a new "driving support function" which aids the user in attaining higher mileage but the details are not apparent at the moment.
It's ugly but I'll take it if they're giving 'em away. Personally, I'd rather save my moola for that fancyass Tesla Roadster.
