Well it didn't take that long for Tecmo to decide since we first mentioned it today. Kotaku reports that the house of Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive has rejected Square-Enix's "friendly takeover" bid today after the Final Fantasy makers presented their offer last week. However, Dynasty Warriors (part 6 pictured above) series publisher Koei is "in talks" to merge with Tecmo as of today.
In Kotaku's report, Tecmo's statement regarding the potential merger reads:
"As the game industry environment changes with high-powered hardware, portable game machines and rapid growth as well as online mobile games, the accelerating consumer needs are varied and sophisticated. The industry has intensified. Multi-platform and the importance of overseas markets is pushing the industry towards global competition."
We predict a brand new Samurai Warriors with Ryu Hayabusa kicking ass. Stay tuned for more updates.
