According to Activision's Asia Pacific publishing Vice President, Phillip Early, StarCraft 2 "should" be out in 2009. At the recent Activate Asia conference, he is said to have said, "Next year's offerings from Activision Blizzard should include highly anticipated PC strategy title StarCraft II, the sequel to one of the world's most enduringly popular games."
Could we maybe space these Blizzard releases out a little bit? Upcoming we have the new Diablo sequel, the Lich King pack, and maybe an as-yet unannounced MMO for consoles. My girlfriend will be none-too-happy to know these things are coming out at all much less all within a year of each other.
StarCraft II is a Blizzard developed and Activision published strategy game for PCs.
