If you watch a lot of G4 you no doubt have seen the commercial for Pandemic’s Mercenaries 2 featuring a song called “Oh No, You Didn’t.” And you do doubt want it for your iPod/Zune. Ask and ye shall receive: Over the weekend Pandemic posted a nearly three minute long version of the song complete with extra verses and a pomp-and-bombast chorus that comes right out of Meatloaf or Queen’s playbooks.
This catchy little number combines hardcore hip-hop style lyrics about the game’s characters, sung in multi-part harmony over a bouncy piano line. Instead of an incongruous cacophony of styles though, the song is instantly ear-grabbing, with a sing-along chorus that makes you want to join in each time the commercial runs.
The new verses kick the gangsta style rhyming up a notch and thus the silly fun quotient right along with it. Best of all, since Pandemic knows you are all a bunch of Mercenaries who need to get paid too, they have made the MP3 download of “Oh No You Didn’t” completely free. (While supplies last, according to the website).
