In celebration of the launch of Mercenaries 2: World in Flames, Pandemic Studios is giving away free gas at a Los Angeles petrol station until the pumps run dry. What started at 6AM this morning is still causing a huge line to snake down the street and cause traffic jams all around the pit stop at 8489 Beverly Blvd. The "Petrol to the People" event will also cover the entire gas station with Mercs 2 branding, promo flyers will be handed out, and the free gas will pumped by actors posing as the three main characters in the game.
Not only is this awesome if you live in LA, but it's fairly appropriate; the game takes place in Venezuela, a country that has been very pivotal and vocal in the global energy crisis we're all facing. In the game, a power hungry tyrant uses Venezuela’s oil supply to overthrow the government and turns the country into a war zone, which doesn't sound all that far-fetched. You play as a mercenary who gets double-crossed by this bastard, so now you get to level the entire country as your revenge. I wish that didn't sound far-fetched. Mercenaries 2 is available now, and the free gas is probably going to run dry in the next few hours, so if you're in SoCal, I suggest you hit the road. It has videos of what their doing, they have interviews with drivers and a live stream of the gas station
And by the way, so that's the story, huh? Gangsta!!! LOL!!!
You see, videogames care...(cough, Nintendo, LOL!).
But that's one of a kind marketing right there.

This is soooo cool :)
This game DOES have the best marketing ever!
Yes, it is a great way to advertise the game. Like wow, not even Bungie thought of that.
That's what advertising is for. To get you to buy the game.
Mercs2 is near the top of my list of most kick ass game I'll soon be playing.
just messin they still look pretty badass,
and i agree the marketing for this game is top notch, have you heard the tv commercial? its fricken awesome!
For anyone still on the fence about buying the game- I highly recommend it. If you loved the first one, you're really gonna like this one!
I was hoping for two-player split-screen, but alas, it's two-player online instead. Still alot of fun though.
Also, can someone find me a review of this f'n game?
Don't buy it.
UNBELIEVEABLE how many bugs are in this game.
Multiplayer is the worst.
The ON NO YOU DIDN"T song should be "OH NO YOU DIDN'T RELEASE THIS GAME UNFINISHED"
