Mark Millar Working On Superman Trilogy?

Posted by Stephen Johnson - Thursday, August 28, 2008 2:26 PM

In an interview with Fresh Ink’s Blair Butler, comic book author Mark Millar said he’d like to make a trilogy of films for a re-booted Superman series, and it might happen. Millar's vision for a new Superman:

"I've had this plan for like 10 years for a big three-picture Superman thing, like a Lord of the Rings epic, starting over from scratch again with a seven-hour Superman story. One to be released each year." Millar said.

Millar says there's nothing firm yet,  but he hopes to get word over the next few weeks. If everything goes perfectly, they'll be shooting next summer. Check it out below:

Well without having any idea as to what he wants the story to be, I can't exactly get behind his vision. All I know is I don't want the same old origin story that was already done in '78. That version is still great and nobody will be able to top it. They'll just throw CG at it and think it's better.

I think the origin can be done, with out it really being from the very begining. The new Hulk movie touched on the origin of Hulk with out really doing it over. I think it could work if done in a way it doesnt come off as the same from 78.

After the total abortion of a story that was Civil War I really couldn't care less what Millar does. It'll still suck.

First of all Mark Millar is some sort of Irish....that's really cool....but I couldn't understand a word he was saying......and quit listening when that hot chick came on screen......so yeh what's this about superman fighting a civil war with the ultimate x-men.......?

The recent remake with "that kooky bald guy" who always seems to find himself in "mischief" was the suxxors. The Dark Knight pretty much shows how well a DC movie CAN be made and how bad the Superman movies just suck. Doomsday FTW please... :o|

I stopped after she said he wrote Wanted. Wanted had a good concept but lacked basic writing skills like how to make me care enough about the characters so that I have a reason to finish the stupid story. The only reason I finished it was because 1) it was in the house already and 2) I wanted to have a baseline for the movie which almost made me not want to see it. Thankfully the movie had about as much in common with the book as the intro and even that was fairly loose which is why it ended up being a worthwhile movie.

I was thinking about picking up Civil War but now that I know he was involved, I think I'll pass.
