Microsoft's latest application programming interface (API), DirectX10, will be fully supported by two of gaming's elite companies--Sega and Electronic Arts.

BattleForge (developed by EA Phenomic) and Stormrise (published by Sega) strategy titles will be the initial games from both companies that will support the latest API when they launch. Also, supporting Microsoft's latest framework in the hardware department is AMD's latest ATI graphics cards: Radeon HD 3000 and HD 4800 series.

Since its latest version release in February 2008, DirectX10 promises "incremental improvements to 3D rendering quality." BattleForge is set to be released this October 7 for the PC. Stormrise, developed by Creative Assembly, is scheduled for a 2009 release for the PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
