'Left 4 Dead' Delayed

The release of Left 4 Dead, the eagerly awaited cooperative zombie-slaying experience from Valve, is being delayed by a couple week. The game will hit your PC and Xbox on November 20th, not November 4th as had been previously announced.

According to Valve president Gabe Newell, the date is significant because "Left 4 Dead is going to be released on the tenth anniversary of Half-Life, our first game."

Hmmm, so either the game is being delayed for sentimental reason, or because it needs a touch more work. Either way: We'll gladly wait. Having played a pre-release build of this game, we assure you it is worth a couple weeks. Check out the video below!

Well, its valve
Having delays are a part of being a fan
What would be cool though is if they gave a special deal on the release, like Half Life is free when you buy it today

They are being smart knowing that gears of war 2 is November 7. That's why they changed the date.

10th anniversary of HL1, eh? Hmmm... Maybe Valve has a nice surprise, bundling HL2:Ep3 with L4D in a "Green Box" or whatever. :D (that was a joke, haha, fat chance)

Um...yeah, I think valve just needs to work on this a little more. I mean, Valve of all people should remember their own anniversary.

But yeah, it looks pretty cool. It looks like isht graphic-wise, but it does look pretty cool. It does look like it's been done, but I guess I'm thinking of RE. I guess you can say that it's like a FPS RE.

i think they shold delay it even more i mean GTA4 is coming the 18th so i would think it would be better if they just pushed it back to Dec 20th work more Stuff out and let people who don't have the money to get both GTA4 and L4D save &/or get GTA out there systems. Just My opinion.

i really hope thats the actual boxart, cuz i seen a different one on gamestop, it's crappy and plain white.

Thats odd, xbox360achievements.org has it listed for being released November 14th and even if it is the 20th. It seems more likely because it was near the release of Gears of War 2 and Microsoft and Valve agreed it would make more money on the 360 when not competing with Gears. Im not saying Gears of War 2 will be the better game, but it will likely get more press coverage during the games release. But Left 4 Dead does look highly impressive and I look foward to buying it when I can afford to.

the reason the graphics arent intense is because it is Valve, a company that cares less about shiny stuff and more about gameplay. Every game i have ever played by Valve i have enjoyed, and even though im not a big fan of zombie games, (Resident Evil is crap, one guy killin all those zombies?? what??) I think this will be a great game because of the cooperative play and use of the source engine.

The only reason for the delay is because of the whole 10th anniversary thing for Half-Life. I think it's a cool idea. Of course, this means Ep. 3 will also be delayed I'm sure. Still, the demo is gonna tide everyone over till it comes out in full, most likely :)
