PlayStation Home To Have "Adult" Areas

According to reports out of Leipzig, Sony says PlayStation Home, the MMO/lobby system coming to the PlayStation 3, will have adults-only areas. But before you get your hopes up about a digital Sony red-light district, it's probably not going to be like that.

PlayStation Home boss Peter Edwards told IC Gamers “In the short-term, there probably won’t be many but in the long-term, we expect to see them. For instance, a casino or even somewhere you can go and see 18-rated trailers for games."

Notice, Edwards didn't say anything about hot girl-on-avatar action--we predict you won't be seeing that anytime soon.

on another note where is the calendar? I cant find it and its a royal pain to keep clicking previous 10 times to get to just a few days back.

what if i wanted to go back to something from a moth ago to check comments ( not just 2 days ago?) or was away for a week?

Is always the same guys , I think they work for microsoft, I have my xbox360, love it, but Iam not a crazy microsoft fan, I have also the ps3, and wayting to see this come out , is going to be nice

I play ps3 as well as 360, but really why would anyone waste their time walking around in this crappy virtual realm. Its better than the 360's scary ass avatars, they give me nitemares. But i guess im trying to say why walk around when you could be playing the great games both systems offer.

Microsoft didn't become a powerful company by hiring blithering idiots...they just sell stuff to the idiots. Since your average idiot has problems with money and is easily attracted to shiny things, all you need to do is sell a product that occasionally lights up like a Christmas tree and voila!

Idiots buy one and then, since they can't afford other products, they attack anything that isn't their precious Christmas box.

Avatars and Home isn't really my thing either, will I check it out? yes, but I doubt I will be on it for more than an hour total. Im happy with just watching BluRay and playing games. But this is about competition, which console has more little functions then the other?. 360 gots Avatars, well PS3 has Home, which everyone can agree is 1,000 times better, for the simple fact its in a virtual world. Xbots may not care about Home, but if the 360 had it and the PS3 didn't, then they would be all over the place rubbing it in everyones face. So for the Xbots, this time, SUCK IT!!!!!!

first off this rumor started because to begin with your supposed to be 18 to be in the Beta, so technically everyone and everywhere within the beta is "adults only". Its in the NDA tha I and the other Beta participants agreed to in the beginning. Although some under 18'teeners are in there because they lied or jacked somebodies elses account. And this is because you can type whatever you want with some things filtered out but of course there is no way that adult content can be 100% blocked.

And yes soon more people will be released upon the HOME world. We just got an update that sets the stage to let more people in but its all up to SCEA, they are ultimately the ones draggin their feet.

OOO take it easy, I'm not a microsoft guy, not a Sony guy, I just like to play nice videogames, and Sony and microsoft have nice video games coming this fall, and new upgrades for both systems , i just ecxited to see how they going to work

The only catch with this is. I'd assume there are adults on the Beta with kids who use their parents accounts. So while technically, you have to be 18, I can see why HOME as a whole isn't a "over-18" location.

That being said, the same catch would happen when HOME comes out. 18-and-underers using a parents/relatives/friends account would still have the same accesses.

So I have no idea how they would enforce this to start with.

I don't have a problem with Xbots trolling the PS3 boards. I DO have a problem with Xbots saying stupid things like "yeah but when is HOME coming out? never is my guess".

NEVER?!? If you want to be considered an intelligent gamer, then say intelligent things. Do you honestly think HOME is never coming out?

Can we just cancel this piece of crap already? It serves no purpose on my PS3. It's a game machine. We don't need this kind of BS since it's already beaten the 360 as far as quality, features, and games go.

Sony could have done much better things with their time and money.

Honestly I am sick of hearing details about Home. I just want a release date or at least somewhat of an idea when Home is coming out. Sony continues to say how great Home will be and it will be a big part of the PS3 well, who cares. I don't care about what Home will be like I want a release date so until I get that Sony I don't care about Home and neither should anybody with a PS3.

What is your problem with HOME? Your just an idiot that hates on everything non-Microsoft. For example, when Microsoft said that they weren't gonna be at Leipzig (after finding out that Gears of War can't be there...I find that interesting), you said something along the lines of "I heard you have to have Bronze skin and wear thongs to be part of the press". You don't have to hate on Germans, Germany, Leipzig, or anything of the like, just because Microsoft wasn't there.

yeah that was pretty funny too, at least to me. it was only a bad joke towards europeans, cause they actually do like to tan alot and wear speedos. i've seen it first hand, not a pretty sight!

as for HOME, my problem is that sony's been hyping it up and keep on saying sh#t but still no release date. it's become a joke at this point, so why not laugh about it?

as for TOO HUMAN, not sure why you're obsessing over that game? the most i've ever said is that i didn't care for the demo, what more can i tell you about it?

I'm forced to agree with StayChisel here (not one to side with any select group of fanboys, but he made a valid point)...

Sony has been talking about this (amongst other things) for what seems like ages. 'HOME is this, HOME is that; HOME will change your life...' What HOME is to me is a console rip of Second Life, again thereby adding yet another point that the PS3 is trying too hard to mimick the Ulitmate Gaming PC. Why not save that money you'd pour into a PS3 and actually put it into a custom built computer that can rock with the best?

DPsx7 was right about one thing in his earlier post, too: Sony needs to switch their focus, resources and energy on to other things and scrap this project.

I'm only saying that because you talked isht about HAZE all the time. Karma's a bitch ain't it?

While Sony does say what HOME can do, they don't hype it, people do. And at least they will take a delay if they see that they need it. I mean multi-plats and PS3 games usually delay, but 360 games really don't and it seems that they pay for it in the end. I heard (from a friend) that as you play Gears of War, the acts get shorter and shorter, as if they were trying to avoid a delay. True? (Honest question, I'm really not trying flame.)

Also, I'm European (1/2 Italian) and I take offense to that, thank you very much. I have never tanned or worn a speedo in my life.

All the ps3 owners are phonny. First when M$ first anouced achivmentd it was so critized people was commenting say ing it was stupid and stuff , now ps3 has trophies now. LOL oh now it's the greatest thing since slice bread. Sounds like Sony might eventually take the Second Life route. Sure promoting trailers and demos that are for mature users only may be the incentive to make thier "metaverse". But at the end of the day, what do people really think and want when we hear the term "Adults Only".
Cant wait to see this unfold.
