One of the tentpoles of Sony's press conference at this year's Game Convention in Leipzig was upcoming PlayStation 3 game Heavy Rain. While we originally heard about the game at E3 2006, judging from the footage that was shown (soon to be available right here) a lot of work has been done on the game since then.
It's an intriguing game: Where most titles tend to amp up action and mayhem, Rain is more about mayhem of an emotional nature. According to the game's creator, David Cage, President of Quantic Dream, this game is going to be mature and emotional. Wow! What a concept! They wanted to create a different kind of gaming experience, centered on narrative and emotion. Gameplay details are scarce, but we know it follows a dark, mysterious story without supernatural elements, and players' choices actually affect the narrative in big ways. It's scheduled for a 2009 release.
So what do you think, Gamers? Could you be into a mature, emotional game?
