The Alliance (specifically, the PC Gaming Alliance formed last February) stated in their initial Horizons report that the PC gaming industry was worth $10.7 billion in 2007.
Alliance president Randy Stude referred to the impressive report as an "incredible growth in PC gaming." The report stated the following, in accordance the industry's performance last year: $2 billion in digital distribution, $800 million in in-game and web advertising, and $4.8 billion in online PC gaming (double that of retail PC softwares sold). DFC Intelligence analyst David Cole said, "By pioneering new business models, the PC has quietly remained the single leading platform for games, not only in terms of consumer usage, but revenue generation."
Speaking of revenue, notice how in-game advertising almost raked in a billion bucks. Will companies, such as Google, implement more of their ads to our precious games? We'll see how it goes. The PC Gaming Alliance consists of the following members: Microsoft, Nvidia, Razer, Epic Games, Intel, Acer/Gateway, Activision (the WoW effect in the $4.8 billion online game revenue?) and Dell/Alienware.
