PS3 Music Peripherals Fully Compatible

Posted by Stephen Johnson - Monday, August 18, 2008 1:43 PM

Good news, hot off the stove from Sony: According to the official PlayStation blog, upcoming music games Rock Band 2, Guitar Hero World Tour, Rock Revolution and Singstar will be all be able to switch around instrument and microphone peripherals at will! Can you imagine the back-room negotiations that must have taken place to make that a reality?

Sony also says they're working on the bringing the same level of interoperability to older music games:

"We’re still working hard to ensure compatibility between the Guitar Hero and Rock Band titles currently on the market, and we hope to have an announcement on that shortly."

YIPPEE KAI YEAH! I will be most likely be buying the ION and R2 and GH World tour games. Looking forward to them all. I just bow and say thanks to SONY for pulling some of these people together and giving them a reality check.

The folks at Sony really do love us.

@ cxhxexexsxe

Who the hell knows?

cxhxexexsxe: The GH2/3 controllers both work in Rock Band for 360. I would assume nothing will have changed in the future, and that compatibility will be all across the board.

ToastyOe: A nice person on the Internet? Who would've thought! I hope that quote mentioned in this article means that RB will support the GH3 controller for PS3 eventually.

LOAGEEKS: Sony's been wanting to do this for a while. They've had the ability to patch the system, but wouldn't put it out due to Activision having a hissy fit about it. ...Well, I mean that's pretty much it. I don't know all of the details.

Very nice. We only have so much room for virtual instruments. Now I can enjoy them all instead of choosing just one.

Awesome...

Lets rock!!!

Yea it was basically activision being whiny. They need rockband to really make money. Competition is the greatest thing for us consumers and for them.

That's good. Because I'm kind of a mess when it comes to this kind of stuff...

I prefer the microphone of SingStar (especially the wireless ones), the drums of GH: WT (from the look of it), and (contrary to what other people like) the Guitar of Rock Band.

So will I be able to use my PS3 rock Band 2 drums with my XBOX 360 and Guitar Hero:World Tour game?
