'Too Human' Potentially Changing Lives?

Posted by John Manalang - Monday, August 18, 2008 1:09 PM

Silicon Knights's upcoming action adventure title, Too Human, is set to hit retail shelves tomorrow. Not only will the game's potential success affect company president Denis Dyack's reputation, but it could also change the economy in the company's home at St. Catharines.

“If Too Human does what we expect it will, then it can change the world for St Catharines and Niagara,” said Dyack in an interview with The Standard. Dyack credited the video game industry  as a "maturing" form of media, so if Baldur's adventures turns out to be a profitable hit, then it would allow Dyack to expand his company further around his surrounding area. "I've said this before. I want to see a campus here in Niagara dedicated to interactive information technology," said Dyack.

Will you be getting Too Human tomorrow? Enlighten us, please. Too Human, published by Microsoft, will be released for the Xbox 360. And if you needed any enlightenment from us, check out some glorious images from our gallery and make sure to view the vid with Dyack himself after the cut.

Well I thought they did a good job with MGS remake on GC and eternal darkness. However this didn't look to good to me I think there in for an epic fail. I hope I'm wrong.

It's far from the best game I've played, at least in the demo. For something that was in the pot for so long I expected more. It doesn't even feel polished. But I've been really bored lately and no games have come out, so I might grab it I dunno. Depends on if I can just wait for Merc 2 or not. But it's far from the top of my list. More like buy it used.

i've been looking forward to this game for a long time. i believe it has something for everyone, in that it came be a mindless shoot-em-up type of game, or provide a wealth of depth spending endless hours upgrading weapons, customizing character abilities, etc.

i had my reservations after my first playthrough of the demo, but once i found myself playing it for the 9th time, and still finding new items, and new moves.........i knew i was hooked into something big.

Posted by raziel_hell - Monday, August 18, 2008 2:09 PM
its another game like diablo for me when u start its a bit slow but as u get items and skillz it gets very addictive .

Posted by kobebryantyanic - Monday, August 18, 2008 2:26 PM
Well i don't expect this game to sell more than a mil, unless the reviews are great. We'll see how this turn out, but man, this game sure took a while to come out.

I for one loved the demo. All that loot and skill managing brought back old-school RPG moments.

This game was already trashed by G4 and other reviewers. I don't think it will do well.

Posted by down311 - Monday, August 18, 2008 2:51 PM
I loved this demo ! I was gonna hold on the the 60 bucks for another game but i'm getting this one now instead.

It will take a while to get into but once you get the feel of it you're hooked.

LOGEEKS- I'm pretty sure Sessler said it was pretty fun but still needed polish. That was a while ago now.

I will buy it and have sex with it until it has nothing left to give, then I'll have sex with it again.

Posted by mafia28 - Monday, August 18, 2008 3:20 PM
it got a 6.75 on game informer

Posted by Letters2Kay - Monday, August 18, 2008 3:29 PM
The reviews are saying it's mediocre at best.

Posted by bigmonstefan - Monday, August 18, 2008 3:44 PM
I haven't been very impressed with what I've seen from the game. Then there are the reviews that are out there that back that up. I'm not a 360 fan, but I do appreciate what Dyack tried to do with the game. But the dialogue and even the execution of the high tech meets Norse mythology world all seem out of place with each other. Then again I only saw the demo, so maybe the story gets better. Either way, we'll see what happens

Posted by Krapehtta - Monday, August 18, 2008 4:43 PM
I would love to pick up this game tomorrow... But there are too many good games coming out... Gotta cut back on the spending a bit.

Posted by CPRxChris - Monday, August 18, 2008 4:48 PM
@ raziel_hell

That was a random opinion/statement.

Posted by Aztec23 - Monday, August 18, 2008 5:44 PM
Yall should not buy it just because its a exclusive. Its getting bad press/review everywhere. Pretty sure it will suck because it took to long to develope.

Posted by blakseed - Monday, August 18, 2008 6:14 PM
In that case, hope it does well.

Posted by GrandReaper999 - Monday, August 18, 2008 6:18 PM
It was hillarious, today-- I went to check out Kotaku and the site is literally plastered in Too Human Ads. I'm sure if they're pouring THAT much into most other sites, it'll get amazing reviews (anyone what happened with Kane and Lynch and the bad review-- the guy got FIRED for it)..

From gamers I hear the demo wasn't very amazing, very average and didn't feel overly polished for a game 10 years in the making. Right now there's nothing really coming out for the 360 so I think with the combination of paid-off reviewers, a drought of quality/interesting games on the 360, and a ridiculous amount of hype (despite the bad early reviews and bashing on the game), we'll have a pretty successful game.

I've seen this game, and actually tried to like it, but when seeing/playing (demo) I couldn't help but wish for diablo2(maybe 3) in one hand, and God of War2(or 3) in the other. Felt like a very hollow experience overall that made me want to play other games.

Posted by Smartguy81 - Monday, August 18, 2008 6:29 PM
this game hasn't been in the making for ten years. they got the idea for it before eternal darkness and didn't work on it. dyack made eternal darkness, which was good, and then they made twin snakes. so...the game hasn't been in development for ten years. a misconception.

@loageek
that photo of the review looks shopped. the rest of the image is fuzzy as hell. come on, cells take better pics than that.

Posted by TheAuracle - Monday, August 18, 2008 6:31 PM
it took a long time to finish because of Silicon Knight's beef with Epic Games over the Unreal Engine. The game was apparently supposed to drop before or around the same time as Gears of War but didn't because Silicon Knights didn't get the Unreal Engine technology in time. This was dragged out with a huge lawsuit that went back and forth like table tennis at the Olympic Games.

Bump what the reviews say and play the game for yourself. Most of the games that get panned by the reviewers are actually pretty good, I've come to find out.

Posted by walther84 - Monday, August 18, 2008 8:34 PM
@raziel_hell

I'm afraid I must pass. Must buy Disgaea 3 and Mercs 2.

Posted by JDarkley - Monday, August 18, 2008 11:33 PM
I really like the concept behind this game, but I would like to see some reviews before I get it.

Posted by capthavic - Tuesday, August 19, 2008 1:49 AM
Sorry Denis but I'm gonna pass. It just wasn't that good.

Posted by WitWolfy - Tuesday, August 19, 2008 3:22 AM

@Xbox fanboys

this is your haze

get off the bandwagon NOW

Posted by ctlaltdel - Tuesday, August 19, 2008 5:37 AM
anyone who goes only by what critics say is an idiot. i have played games they thought were good that i though were bad and i have played games they hated that i though were good. i know some people who liked haze after critics bashed it. if a critics tells you r2 or gears 2 is bad is that going to stop you? in my opinion most critics don't know what their talking about and i'll pick up a game that interest me no matter what they say. if your not sure rent a game and if you like it buy it. try the game for yourself and not what critics say b/c you might miss out on a promising game or series. i could care less if too human is a critical darling or not i liked the demo so i'm going to get this game.

Posted by staychisel - Tuesday, August 19, 2008 7:23 AM
i'll admit it, i was not impressed by the demo. it seemed like it was like marvel ultimate alliance, but not as fun or rewarding.

Posted by Smartguy81 - Tuesday, August 19, 2008 7:38 AM
My opinion has changed. The scaling difficulty eventhough you collect better gear is retarded. Still, I liked Haze, so I will probably like this. I like to shoot people and kill things.

Posted by Nevest79 - Tuesday, August 19, 2008 8:41 AM
I enjoyed the demo. I unlocked all of the classes and tried them out so played through it at least 5 times (probably more like 7). I think this kind of game appeals to certain kinds of gamers and I guess I'm one of them. I really don't care how long the game has been in development and I only put minor stock in what reviewers say. I think the co-op play is what's really going to help it shine but I'll also play through it on my own. I pre-ordered my copy last week and will pick it up today after work.

Posted by Tmidiman - Tuesday, August 19, 2008 9:41 AM
I'm picking this up tomorrow. Totally got into the game play the second time through as I was choosing what powers and armour to upgrade. Can't wait to get more of the story too.

Posted by OBAMAISBUSHpart3 - Tuesday, August 19, 2008 10:25 AM
This game does not look like the type of game that will change lives forever at all,you feel me? Are you asking this silly question because it is a (FAKEBOX 360) exclusive? I think Kevin on Attack of the Show overhyped this game because it is a (FAKEBOX 360) exclusive even though i am interested in playing it personally, you feel me?

Posted by b_radfury - Tuesday, August 19, 2008 11:36 AM
This game really turned out to be one of the biggest disappointments of all time(almost up there with the story/campaign in Halo 3). For a game that was in concept for more than 10 years you really thought at least certain aspects of it would have really shined. Even the story(that is such a key part of this type of game) is a real let down. It is not a terrible game, but definitely not worth a purchase. Rent it if you are curious, but do not expect a great experience from this one.
