Posted by Stephen Johnson - Tuesday, August 12, 2008 9:48 AM

The card producers 2.4 teraFLOPS of power by combining two ATI Radeon HD 4800 series GPUs into one card. Add and 2GB of onboard memory and you're playing with power, son.

The ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 is available now for $549. Expensive, yes, but still, can you imagine playing Crysis fully boosted, details and screaming with speed?

im a gamer myself and i love building computer, but geez is like every 6months there is a new product, making anything you already have old as the day go by. gives us a break where we can feel we have something great in our room. i kno i speak for myself only, since there are plenty of people who will just keep buyin n spending like there is no tomorrow for maybe just 5-10fps more, can you really tell the different? our humans eyes are not getting any better as the component do, but heck those that can do it, all power to u, ill always love to build and upgrade pc but as time really calls for it

Mvidia FTW. I had one of those ATI cards in my last computer. Ran like crap. Lots of choppiness. Put in the nvidia. Worked fine.

damn!

It's pointless to spent the cash on this, for a little over half the price you could get a video card that runs Crysis on high settings, when a game actually does need a card like this to run well, the price will be lower and a new video card will take its place. But I guess AMD and nVidia know that people will buy the newest/best stuff if they've got the money.

I meant ATI not AMD, ATI actually makes the cards, AMD just owns ATI.

@koolboricua

You are not alone. I've decided to run my 6600 GT for at least two years more. I got sick of upgrading. Of course that means no pc gaming. Which is totally ok with me. I prefer to play on my consoles, with a big kick ass tv.

nVidia dosnt support SLI on intell's new SKULLTRAIL board due to the intell/nvidia war. In performance tests this card out performed nvidia's gtx 280 card and supports crossfire on the skulltrail board, allowing far greater perfomance than nvidia will ever have untill they get their heads out of their arses
