Wrestler Calls For More Game Violence

Posted by Stephen Johnson - Friday, August 08, 2008 7:48 AM

WWE Wrestler Randy Orton wants more violence in videogames.

"Violence sells. I want to see more violence in games - the more blood the better," he told Eurogamer at a press event hawking THQ's SmackDown vs. Raw 2009. Orton said videogames were the least of parents' worries, when some "don't know their kids are watching South Park"

Right on, Randy Orton! We agree with you, and it's not just because we're afraid you will beat up our entire neighborhood if we don't!

Orton also revealed that he owns a 360 and a Wii and enjoys Mario Kart on his Wii, but without the Wiiwheel because that's a gimmick. Mario Kart is the greatest game ever, Randy. (Please don't punch us in the face.)

Smackdown Vs. Raw 2009 comes out across platforms on November 11th. Check out the trailer for the game under the cut.

right on Randy, but there is good violence like fantasy world violence such as Halo, Gears etc, and there is bad violence like real world such as GTA, so more violence please but the goody kind.

I don't care how violent a video game is as long as its fun.

LOOK! Up in the sky!

It's a bird!
It's a plane!

No! It's Jack Thompson VS Randy Orton!

I don't watch whatever show this man is on, but I totally agree. More real violence opens the doors for game like UFC 2009 Undisputed to be truely amazing. Just imagine Forrest Griffin vs Stephan Bonnar where Bonnar actually wins blood and all. Or how more real world physics will make skin start to hang off the body as you get cut.

LMAO!!!! Me want game!!!

Posted by NoriakiZ - Friday, August 8, 2008 8:21 AM

Well, Orton does have a point. Some games *coughmanhunt2cough* needed more violence.

wow, male soap opera characters just got a thumbs up from me.

Posted by MrBig200 - Friday, August 8, 2008 9:12 AM

Posted by ThataUFO - Friday, August 8, 2008 9:13 AM

I wonder if MS would like this idiot to state that he owns a 360?

Posted by Al_Coholic - Friday, August 8, 2008 9:18 AM

@ThatsUFO

He just wants more violence in video games. How does that make him an idiot?

Posted by tr00p3r - Friday, August 8, 2008 9:42 AM

right on!

Posted by Circle77 - Friday, August 8, 2008 9:56 AM

Fatalities in Mario Kart would be Kool!

Posted by Kimyumoto - Friday, August 8, 2008 10:05 AM

Randy Orton's a gamer??? WOW I did not know that. Kudos to him.....and his hot wife. ;)

Posted by Platformermaniac - Friday, August 8, 2008 10:23 AM

It's hilarious that he calls for more violence in games, then states his favorite videogame is Mario Kart! Mario Kart is about as far removed from hardcore violence as you can get, except maybe for Pong.

oh no, I think the bull shark testosterone got the best of this wrestler...didn't we all learn what it did to Brucie?!?

Posted by uman123 - Friday, August 8, 2008 10:46 AM

Is this guy 'tarded? He thinks South Park isn't good for kids to watch and violence in video games is slightly better? Come on dude, South Park has great satire and sure as is way more up to date on current events and pop culture than most other shows on TV *cough*Family Guy*cough*

lmao, i think it's hilarious that everyone is bitching about this.
I agree with Randy, more violence in video games!
Its not the games fault, it's the parents who let the kids play the games fault.
i'm 16, i play violent games, but i don't go shooting my neighbors(even though my neighbors are raging douchebags)

Posted by Arbizo90 - Friday, August 8, 2008 11:27 AM

I Agree. Violence, Violence, come on say it with me Violence, Violence

Posted by BONERJAM - Friday, August 8, 2008 11:45 AM

This guy looks and sounds like a tool! I think the violence in videogames is already pretty extreme. Dont get me wrong I love my games the way they are but I can already kill a mutated big daddy in a bloody exchange of weaponry and plasmids then kill the little sister to satisfy my hunger for even more power. I can run people down in a car while throwing gernades out the window. I can also chainsaw a deformed alien into two pieces. What more does this idiot want?

Posted by silentslayer0637 - Friday, August 8, 2008 11:56 AM

I wonder what his gamertag name is on Live?? any guesses?

Posted by xXKrZyXb3aStXx - Friday, August 8, 2008 2:40 PM

Finally some1 seed it. I wonder wuts randy ortons fgamertag is, id totally add him. lmao jk but yea. violents videogames rnt a big deal and alot of mmy frends only try video games caws they kno its violent.

Posted by Nerdpunk - Friday, August 8, 2008 3:39 PM

good on Orton. for any gamer out there: the fact that YOU know the name MARIO KART and GEARS OF WAR, and you calling out either one out is hypocracy at it's best! he no doubts play COD 4 or Halo, and he also mentions Mario Kart, just like me and you he knows all apsect of games. more violence in videogames is welcomed by me. just keep emo's from playing them.

Posted by Lightmike578 - Friday, August 8, 2008 4:40 PM

I dont see why people are calling him an idoit and flaming him just b/c he made a good point about how the parents are responseble for what there kids watch and play.

Posted by mybum - Friday, August 8, 2008 4:43 PM

i agree blood and gore is the most simplest way to make a game more enjoyable
i like gears because of the sniper headshot sound

Posted by WildfireFox - Friday, August 8, 2008 7:57 PM

Never liked Randy. His decisions in life were always an odd choice (like when he chose to poop in a girl's purse). He's the kind of person that undermines the video game culture.

Posted by YankeeOneTen - Friday, August 8, 2008 7:58 PM

Im only 13, and my parents don't know i watch south park and all of my games are rated M. So Randy. HELL YEA to the violence!and keep it coming! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Three cheers for gory headshots!

If you buy games just because they're violent then you're screwed up. I dont care how violent a game is, so long as it's fun.
