'Left 4 Dead' Not In PS3 Development

Posted August 5, 2008 - By Stephen Johnson

Yesterday we reported on Official PlayStation Magazine reporting that upcoming co-op shooter Left 4 Dead was in development for the PS3, well, not from Valve, anyway.

IGN contacted Doug Lombardi from Valve who said: "there is no PS3 version of Left 4 Dead currently in production."

Sorry, PlayStation 3 owners. The game is scheduled to drop on the 360 and PC in October.

Update: In thinking about this story a little closer, we realized that nothing Lombardi says contradicts the original story. Lombardi says Valve isn't making the game, but EA could still be developing it in house, just like Official PlayStation Magazine said. Also, keep in mind, this is the same way that the PS3 version of Orange Box came to be.

Update-Update: Okay, so EA only distributes for Valve, and thus they have no ownership over their property. So, when Valve says there's no version in development, there isn't. Our bad.
