Yoda Vs Vader In 'Soulcalibur IV': No Plans

Posted by John Manalang - Monday, August 04, 2008 9:31 AM

While there have been many screens (including the one above) and videos of a rumored possibility of having both Yoda and Darth Vader from Soulcalibur IV in one platform, Namco Bandai has "no plans" in making it happen as of yet.

"We don't have any plans," said by game director Katsutoshi Sasaki about implementing a DLC that will enable players to play either Yoda or Darth Vader on one console. Currently, the only way to play Yoda in Soulcalibur IV is through the Xbox 360 version and Darth Vader on the Playstation 3.

For now, we'll leave the possibility of clashing lightsabers in Soulcalibur IV up to our imaginations. Check out a review of Soulcalibur IV after the cut.

thats lame. I'm sure they will add it eventually. the demand is there. just like bioshock was never planned for the PS3.

Yeah, if it does happen it won't be for a while. My guess would be when the game becomes a greatest hit/platinum hit.

Label me a conspericy theorist, but I think the only reason that they are taking this stance right now is from pressure of the developers so that consumers will have to decide which version to buy by the character they want in the game (with the advantage going to the PS3 with having Vader in their game). I think in time both characters (and maybe others) will be available for DLC for both systems, for it would be silly for Namco and LucasArts to pass up the profits they would make from this potential deal taking place.

yoda ftw.

i hope its soon, b/c i have unlocked ever character including all the bonus ones, i got the completed chain of souls achievement and their is still an empty spot next to yoda and the apprentice so i'm thinking that spot is for darth vadar.

Posted by cmdluke - Monday, August 4, 2008 10:54 AM

yeah, i would prefer yoda cause I have used vader in 2 separate fighting games (masters of teras kasi (ps1) and the episode III game (dual mode)) but alas, I will have to wait for the eventual DLC

Yoda fun to play with at times but it sucks to fight against him! It really really sucks I want vader!

@staychisel

Just because you can't play as Darth Vader.

Yoda ftl

What about that empty square next to Yoda/Vader in the character selection screen, what is that for if not for vader/yoda? (respectively)

@ctlaltdel

You may be right (hopefully).

sukors
I never understood why they split them up in the first place

Posted by savagelife157 - Monday, August 4, 2008 11:58 AM

looks like darth vader is "happy"
haha

Posted by Al_Coholic - Monday, August 4, 2008 12:14 PM

^Darth Vader is very happy...

I'm glad you all noticed that too. After having unlocked every character, there is still an empty space nestled right between Yoda/Vader and The Apprentice. If there isn't going to be a new character added in DLC, then why would there be a spot open right there? =/

I smell something fishy...

You know what I would love to see? Sora from Kingdom Hearts in the PS3 version. You think the 'ol Keyblade Master would work well in the Soul Calibur universe? And as for the 360 version, maybe...Master Chief with a plasma sword? Or Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden? But then again, both character models have already been used in Dead Or Alive 4. Hmm, what would be a good Microsoft-exclusive character for the 360 version? =/

I never even use Vader much. Doubt I'd use Yoda. And off topic, but there's got be something we can do about these cheap ass people online using one F$%%%%ing move to win.
