Jason Tucker, the head of a new anti-piracy group called The PAK Group, who are out to protect adult content, recently told porn industry site XBIZ that P2P lawsuits against individuals “require ridiculous amounts of resources” and are not likely to have a huge impact. So instead he wants to PAK to concentrate on adult video-sharing sites instead.
“The big problem I see right now is not outsiders doing this; rather, it is people who purport to be contributing members in our industry,” Tucker said.
In 2006, market research group NPD estimated that almost 60 percent of all videos swapped on P2P networks are porn, with porn file sharing and video uploading sites popping up left and right.
So Tucker says PAK is about to file a lawsuit against one of the many YouTube-style porn sites, with others to follow soon.
You’ll recall that leading porn production company Vivid sued PornoTube in December of 2007.
Tucker added, “MySpace and YouTube have cleaned up their act, so it can be done.”
