
Tis' the season to be jolly already for Nintendo, as they announced a a $996 million profit on revenues of $3.9 billion from their first quarter of the current fiscal year. That's an impressive 34% increase from last year's profit.
With over 5.2 million Wii units shipped, 3.42 copies of Wii Fit and 6.42 copies of Mario Kart sold from the month of April to June, Nintendo has gained an excellent momentum. The Wii became the top selling system last month, as the system's total unit sales is near the 30 million mark. As for the DS, 70 million handheld units have been sold off retail shelves.
Nintendo expects to earn at least $3 billion on revenues of $16.8 billion by the end of the fiscal year on March 2009.
