The original stoner comedians, Cheech & Chong, are finally reunited. But not for the long-rumored film that have threatened us with for a decade, but via their first comedy tour in over 25 years.
Yes, inspired by recent stoner success stories like Harold and Kumar and the upcoming Pineapple Express (which has a big…ahem, buzz), Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong will celebrate the 30th anniversary of their influential debut film Up in Smoke with a Live Nation-promoted comedy tour, dubbed "Hey, What's That Smell?"
The trek will be officially announced tomorrow at a news conference at West Hollywood's Troubadour, where Cheech and Chong first gained notoriety as a stand-up force to be reckoned with in the early ‘70s.
From 1972-85, the pair released nine comedy albums and eight feature films until they spit in the 1980s. Marin went on to a successful career in film, TV and children’s music, while Chong went on to serve a nine-month prison sentence in 2003 for allegedly trumped up charges of conspiracy to distribute drug paraphernalia through his Nice Dreams-branded bong business.
I, for one, will attend this concert when it comes to a venue near me. And it’s likely everyone around me will be very, very high…
