'Ghostbusters' Not Canceled

An internet report from Games Industry.biz fueled fears that the eagerly awaited Ghostbusters game was ash-canned by Activision Blizzard. The game and a number of other high-profile titles were left off a the company's latest release schedule.

"We have conducted a thorough review of Vivendi Games' brand portfolio and are retaining those franchises and titles that are a strong fit with our long-term product strategy. We are reviewing our options regarding those titles that we will not be publishing," Activision Blizzard said in a statement. Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Ice Age, Radical Entertainment's Prototype and another unannounced game will be coming out.

Activision says Ghostbusters is not canceled. X-Play contacted an Activision Blizzard spokesperson who emailed: "Regarding Ghostbusters: The Video Game: First and foremost, the game is not cancelled," but added: "In general (including Ghostbusters): The company is reviewing its options regarding those titles that it will not be publishing."

Here are two high-profile titles that are being considered for cancellation:

Brutal Legend: The action-adventure game starring Jack Black is slated for release on the 360 and PS3 has no release date scheduled yet.
50 Cent: Blood on the Sand: This action game starring the famous rapper in the Middle East is scheduled for a fall release on the PS3 and 360. No word yet on what the status of this awesomely ridiculous game will be. We'll be bummed if we can't play this. Look at the trailer!

Oh man I hope they don't cancel Brutal Legend. That game looks awesome, if they have to cancel 50 cents game to make it happen I'm perfectly fine with that.

Just as long Ghostbusters comes out, is all good.

Plus, I think is pretty funny 50 duking it out in the Middle East! Maybe he knows where the "Black Gold" is at.....hmmmm, maybe he does, maybe he does...

I don't know how to feel about the 50 cent game being cancelled. I wanted to see how ridiculous it was going to be (gamefly ftw). I'm also glad that the idiot rapper won't be in my house in any form. Oh well.

that is the most ridiculous trailer to a game I have ever seen. I really do hope they cancel that . The story alone merits the murder of the writer for this game.

First of all why did 50 cent even get a sequel it is one of the worst games in history so no sequel equals smiling gamers everywhere and critics jumping for joy because they don't have to play the sure to be piece of garbage. Than there is Brutal Legend, it is a joke this game might not come out why do game companies hate Tim Schafer he is one the most creative geniuses left in gaming my guess is Blizzard is looking at the sale numbers for Psychonauts and basing there decision on that which stinks because there are gamers out there like myself who rather see creativity rather than the same story mixed in with multiplayer Halo anyone.

The only game I even care about on the list is Brutal Legend, it amazes me that ppl are able to screw over Tim Schafer, and then people complain about the lack of originality....damn.

You're an idiot. Blizzard themselves have nothing to do with either of these games. They were only mentioned as Activision Blizzard is that is the company's (Activision + Blizz) full name. Of course there are many other companies incorporated into Activision that never got to share its name, but Blizz are so good that they win.

Where was I going with this, anyway? Oh yeah.. Tim Shaefer is a genius..but get your facts right :)

Only thing Blizz care about right now are Diablo III, Starcraft II, WoW: WotLK, and the unannounced MMO they're working on. I'm looking forward to all three even though I'm not playing WoW at the moment.

Why the hell am I even saying all this? I must be way too tired to be on here.

I hope all the games come out. Like G4 said the 50cent game looks ridiculously awesome! It makes absolutely no sense what so ever and that’s what makes it great. There is no reason for 50cent to be in Iraq running around like a one man army. But I think that’s the point. It’s supposed to be funny. And if the game ends up being good who cares?!?! If I was him I would make this game too and so would every last one of u and ur lying if u say otherwise. U all want to be the hero in your own fantasy world where you single handedly take down an entire army by yourself. So don’t knock him because he can actually afford to create a real fantasy. It’s nice to have a pointless action game. If the game play is good and the writing is good who really cares?! Yea the first game was awful but that doesn’t mean that the new one will be. U lives and learns and then get Luvs. So let’s all stop being haters and appreciate the fact that the trailer looked awesome... ridiculous... but still awesome
