Big Brother invades your console! Yippee! But offers something in return.
"GameShadow, the leading independent, automated patch system today announced GameShadow Metrics. The Metrics service provides real time reports on PC gamers’ playing habits and preferences and is designed to reveal accurate and vital market trends giving detailed information on an unprecedented scale."
As a gamer who signs up with the Metrics service you'd basically be allowing GameShadow the permission to gather a profile for your gaming system. They'll eventually know things like: the most trusted brand of graphics cards used and what do Call of Duty 4 players have in common, etc. In exchange, you'll have the ease of use of a one-click gaming update allowing for maximum fraggin' time.
The system promises full gamer protection stating that nothing will ever be able to be tracked back to the individual, yet Founder and COO of GameShadow, Tony Treadwell commented, “Our engine checks all the versions of games users have loaded on their PC to deliver a one-click patching service. This enables us to build a great profile of the games they play and in return for providing a great service to our users we can report on how genres or sequels are connected. We can even track ‘unknown’ versions and review driver hardware.”
Sounds good to us... until of course that black van rolls up ripping you from your gaming rig never to be seen again. We kid we kid. Your thoughts?
