'Gears of War 2' Linked Achievements

Among the sea of fine, wise gentlemen and ladies at last week's Comic-Con, Epic Games designer Cliff Bleszinski revealed another interesting feature for Gears of War 2 - linked achievements with the original Gears of War. Although he didn't go into much detail about them, it was sure enough to have us all intrigued.

Keep in mind that there are some feather-lite spoilers after the cut for those of you who have been living under a rock.

Linked Achievements for Gears of War 2

Gears of War Act One completed will unlock a playable Anthony Carmine in Gears of War 2
Obtain ten COG tags in GoW will unlock Minh Young Kim in GoW 2
Defeat General Raam in GoW, Play as him in GoW 2

Pretty neat huh? Gears of War 2 will be out by November 7 exclusively for the Xbox 360.

You can get those achievements with 1 playthrough on the easiest difficulty.

Gears of War is the only game(besides Double Dragon) that I got all the achievements for, so I am hoping for some nice goodies.

Man who cares about linked achievements...........why dont I have Seriously yet?!?!?!? 14k+ kills all in Warzone 2k+ in execution.........so why dont I have seriously someone help me out my gamertag is xJulius Caesarx message me and let me know what to do

That's cool, as long as it never gives another person an advantage online. Like a new gun or something. But new character skins is kind of an aesthetic throw-away that will make a person play through Gears one more time.

The only Achievements I don't have are really the Annex ones. I got the RROD at the height of my Gears obsession, right when the new maps came out.

Here is something fun! Go into a COD lobby and say the words Halo 3. WHOA! It's like dangling a cow above a Raptor cage! They go nuts and tear it apart!

hey tays014 if u have over 16k kills in ranked and dont have the achievement then just glitch it...once i hit 10k kills and the achievement doesnt unlock then i am going to glitch it since I DID get 10k kills but didnt unlock

Thanks for the mature input Thundercracker. Anyways, I'm glad to see I'm only going to have to beat the game once on easy to do this, I've been so bored with this game since I got it it's not funny (though I am finally playing through it with a friend who loves it online co-op style, and I did just get my first Torque Bow....I DO like that :)

Luckily for me, I've gotten a lot of the Achievements.

What I don't get is why we need to get an Achievement to play as Carmine in Gears 2. Carmine is generic yet awesome.

i dont get it in gears 1 u can already play as general ramm so whats the big deal do u not get to play as him now until u unlock it thats pretty dumb and also how do u glitch the seriously achivment i have 13k kills still dont got it

I like that these are all pretty easy. Thank goodness they are not requiring you to get the real hardcore achievements to unlock stuff. Anybody that's finsihed the game should have all three of these characters, and finishing the game on casual is pretty basic.

one time i was shooting at this guy with a lancer and he had a gnasher and i killed him and his friend. i ended the match and they jus started cussin me out callin me a noob for usin the weapon.honestly guys quit complainin its a freakin machinegun. would i be a noob if i use a freakin ak-47 on COD4? i dont think so.if u wanna complain shut up cuz i dont wanna hear it. OH and this is my first comment cuz i jus signed in 4 this!!!

For all those who are wondering why they don't do something for the "Seriously" achievement heres my thought on it: I'm pretty sure that they want to make money on the first Gears game with these linked achievement "while" GOW2 is out. Now this means that the GOW1 online will be disabled for the most part and getting the achievement will be impossible. So they are making it just achievements you can get in campaign. Thats my idea, but I'm no expert and I honestly don't know.
