'Tron 2' Footage Screened At Comic-Con

Among the surprises at this year's Comic-Con in San Diego was Disney unveiling some brand new footage from Tron 2!

Jeff Bridges is back in the flick, and the trailer sounds like it's a more-violent, visceral version of the the original flick. In it, a fast-paced light cycle duel is interrupted with a cut to the "real" world, where an older, tougher looking Flynn is basically playing a videogame. Back to the computer world: The race ends in a violent crash. The victorious driver lifts his visor to reveal that it's Flynn, the hero of the original flick.  

The defeated driver says: "But it's only a game."

Flynn: "Not any more."

And title.  Intriguing! Disney promises we'll be seeing more footage from the movie closer to its release next year.

Tron is one of the most under-rated disney characters of them all.

I thought the game was the "Tron 2" storyline. Are they going to basically make that into a movie? Or is this another storyline all together.

TRON 2.0 (the game) centered on Jet, the son of Alan Bradley from the original movie, and did not feature Jeff Bridges character, Flynn, in any significant way. TR2N (the new movie) appears to be based on Flynn mostly. Hopefully the new movie will at least reference the events in TRON 2.0 in some way, the game was too cool to be ignored.

there ONLY letting this see the light of day NOW because bridges was in "ironman" and that was such a huge hit that disney is on the bridges bandwagon!!

Possibly, but considering that rumors of a TRON movie project featuring Jeff Bridges first surfaced sometime last year (November IIRC), I kind of doubt it. The rumors were sparked by comments made by Bridges himself in an interview about Iron Man, which was still in post-production at the time. There was no "Bridges bandwagon" to get on at that time.
