Buffy the Vampire Slayer visionary Joss Whedon will be reshooting the pilot for his upcoming sci-fi drama Dollhouse, starring Buffy’s Eliza Dushku (pictured above…and hot).
But it wasn’t because the network brass demanded it, as is often the case with pricey reshoots. Whedon cited "issues with tone" for new shoot, saying he was in a "dark, noir kind of place" during the post-strike two-month period he had to write the pilot.
"The idea to do a new first episode wasn't the network's. It was mine," said Whedon Tuesday via a statement on fan site Whedonesque. "I understood their consternation, and saw the gap between my style and their expectations, and I suggested I shoot a new [pilot]."
Whedon also noted the Dollhouse pilot wouldn't get shelved and will air as the second episode of the series. “It's going to be a funhouse ride of excitement, fear, existential angst and co-ed showers," he said of the first pilot.
So the only people who are really affected by this, besides the cast and crew, are the Comic-Con fans. Ya see, the teaser for the pilot was to be screened this weekend at the annual San Diego event. But not anymore, since shooting will happen after the event.
Dollhouse will premier in January on Fox.
