Sony Ericsson Profits Fall 97%

It's a bad time to be Sony Ericsson. The cellphone makers profits fell 97%. We're not even sure how something like that is possible, but it happened. Blame weak sales of mid-to-high-end mobile phones for the shortfall in money.

As you might expect, Sony Ericsson employees are looks at lay-offs--probably around 2,000 jobs will be cut. Hopefully, the hotly anticipated Xperia (pictured above) will pull Ericcson out of the dumper.

man what the hell has happened to Sony? every current Video Game console manufacturer...other then good old Nintendo. is failing in just about every one of there markets. MS share holders are gonna demand they ditch the Xbox soon if things keep going down profits wise with all the other headaches they have...vista being one as well as merging to profitable software in the cloud. and now Sony went and tried to make a Goliath rather then an HD Hard Drive ridden PS2....and that is just to much, to expensive, to fast....which seems there cellphones...and bluray do in this current economy as well. before you know it they'll both just retreat from the games market other then software to save the parent companies ass. which would suck big time.
