A "major developer" recently told gaming blog Joystiq that Sony will be mandating unique trophies for all games developed for the PS3 in 2009. What's more interesting, however, is that the developer, currently working on an early 2009 release, is also hearing that Sony may be enforcing some measure of uniqueness between spoils earned on its console versus the Xbox 360.
So basically, Sony may require developers working on cross-platform games to make trophies that are unique and totally different from the Xbox 360 achievments. Looks like Sony figured out that people love those achievments, so much so that we'll buy the Xbox 360 version of a game over the PS3 version just for that reason. Will these unique trophies level the playing field? Make you go for the PS3 version over the Xbox 360 version? Think that Sony is trying to play catch-up? Fanboy fight in 3...2...1...

Honestly, and I think that many PS3 owners will back me on this, I'd rather wait for Home a little bit longer and get a good-looking and well-working program instead of just jumping on the bandwagon of the "Avatars" and getting some that looks like... Yeah, that looks like what Xbox has announced. I mean, come on, Xbox! The Wii made avatars look like that because of the target audience and lack of hardware to power something more graphical. You could get the idea and all, but why would you copy the way it looks when you have the hardware to power something great-looking?
I really don't like talking to people like you since you guys just set your mind and say whatever, no matter if it's true, in order to satisfy your opinion.

Let me remind you that GTA 4, Unreal Tournament, and Call of Duty 4 are all multi-platform, meaning that they're also on the PS3. This leaves Gears of War, Dead Rising, Mass Effect, and Halo on your list. So I'm going to add Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and Heavenly Sword to my list of games that did come out exclusively for the PS3. Now let's throw in the games that are coming out for it: God of War 3, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, to name a few.

I don't usually enter a flamewar, and this is the first time I've actually done it. It's dumb for me to even start, since all that will happen is more people will start opposing me, and more people will oppose those people. It's pointless, because if you have a 360, you'll defend it. If you have a PS3, you'll defend it. What people lack is the common sense to see that both systems offer something different, and are both good in their own ways. You can't have everything in one system, and when you try to, people will shout you down because you are "copying" their system. Really, what matters is that customers are satisfied. As long as there are functions in the systems that satisfy the customers' needs, it's all good. There's no need for this.
Why do you care about Home? It's flamebait to say the least. "YOU HAVE TO DO HOME CAUZE YOU GOTZ NO GMAEZ!!" That is the kind of crap you can expect to hear from the xbots and wii people.
On a different note...if this decree from Sony is true it will just push back release dates. Especially if they have to approve the achievements...i mean trophies. So if it is multiplat then it will probably delay both sides. Lame.

The XBOX would NEVER copy the PLAYSTATION in any way is it is pathetic...So do not ever say any sort of lie like that....I didn't say I like the avatar systems...I like my Blades of Glory gamer pic just fine actually...but come on the PS3 making "trophies" that are different from the BestBox i mean Xbox's....
I do get into flamewars most of the time, but after this E3, I have nothing to flame about. Iv seen what I wanted to see. Killzone 2 demo, info on little big planet, and all the upcoming games coming out later this year or early next year. X box of PS3, we have a lot to look forward to. And Im just a little more sold on home.

The Xbox did copy the PS3's HDMI port =P Hehe, Ok ok, I'm done. Just wanted to say that. This isn't against anyone, it's just between you and me, lol. Have fun with Xbox, because it's a good system, really. The only thing that sucks is the RRoD, and I am sorry for people that have the Xbox and have to deal with it. But overall it's a good system. PS3 is also a good system that has its flaws, but is trying to make up for them.
Again, I'm not being a "fanboy," because I respect all the systems in their own ways. And you are lucky that you have the 360 because you'll have Fable 2. It's sad that it won't be on PS3, even though I'll play it once it's out for PC. I played Gears of War on my PC, and although it has its cool moments, I didn't like it too much (No offense guys, just stating my opinion.) I also played Bioshock on my PC and like it a lot, so PS3 owners will have a treat once it comes out on the PS3. Soon I'll lay my hands on Mass Effect on PC.

You are 100% right. If there was no competition, there wouldn't be so many great updates coming to Xbox or the PS3. It's the competition of the 2 systems that makes them both more advanced.

I here that man. Thats how I look at it too. But I can play my cousins 360 to play Gears 2, or I could buy my own. I cant play that on m ps3, but I could live without playing it, but Id rather not. Theres good games on both systems, but 360 owners dont have to act like the 360 is the best, because they both have their good points.

Those of you that are ranting about how the ps3 sucks need to really get a life. The only reason you are like that is because you chose the xbox side of the fight and therefore automatically hate on the ps3. But if you was to have the chance to own both consoles you would be singing a whole different tune.
Trust me. I know, because I used to be a Sony fanboy until I finally got the extra money required to get a 360 and my eyes were then opened. I can now enjoy games from both sides, I can now experience the best of both worlds.
So, in conclusion, before getting on here and talking about something you have absolutely no knowledge about, just shut up and let those who own the PS3 enjoy their games. And then turn around and enjoy the ones on your console. There is no point at all to come on here putting down the games that other people like just because you cannot own them!
