Another actual guitar hero is coming to the Guitar Hero franchise!

Yes, joining the ranks of Boston rock vets Aerosmith and others will be the greatest real guitar hero ever: Jimi Hendrix!. According to Janie Hendrix, who oversees the Hendrix estate, Guitar Hero: Jimi Hendrix (not the actual title…just my esteemed guess) is in the works for Red Octane/Activision, with masters of “Purple Haze,” “Foxy Lady” and “Little Wing” being considered. The estate has also authorized an official Hendrix avatar for the game.

“Guitar Hero really was on the ball and and they were biting at the bit to get this out this year, so, we just accommodated them,” Janie tells Rolling Stone. “Jimi was a kid at heart — he definitely would have played these games.”

The next edition of the  multi-platform game, Guitar Hero: World Tour, hits stores October 27th.
