'KOTOR' MMO Confirmed?

This might be the biggest news to come out of E3 08: Knights of the Old Republic MMO has reportedly been confirmed.

Portfolio.com published a short excerpt of an interview with EA boss John Riccitiello where he talked about the MMOs EA has in development: "the one that people are dying for us to talk to them about -- in partnership with Lucas, coming out of BioWare." Not new info--previously, everyone assumed this meant a KOTOR MMO--but here's the new news:

N. Evan Van Zelfden, the writer of the report, said Riccitiello was asked specifically if he was talking about "KOTOR Online," and Riccitiello responded unequivocally, "Yes."

So, it's a little he-said-she-said, but moving toward official.

MMO??? what happend to the wonderful story that made kotor what it is! guess we'll just throw all that out to create a videogame myspace. multiplayer is killing the cinematics of videogames

I'm sort of in agreement with Shockwave562. I'll miss the storyline and game play of the original two KOTOR games. An MMO will take away from all of that and make it into some You-Lightsaber-Me-And-I-Lights aber-you game of tag where everyone will be a jedi, which will take away from the fun of the original KOTOR. But...I am a fan and I guess I will try it.

This had better not be MMO. KOTOR I&II are two of my all time favorite Xbox games. It will suck as an MMO. There's more than enough MMO's out there. The vast majority of them suck donkey balls.

Im not sure it will suck, i mean theres plenty of room for story in KOTOR mmo which was Galaxies problem. Galaxies just didnt have room to advance the story as a result of its setting. Also, it will now make sense to have jedi running around in the KOTOR era.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! oooooooo my god noooo!!! This article honestly just ruined my day. KOTOR 1 and 2 are my number 1 and 2 favorite games of all time. MMO?!?!?!?? You know, I had respect for Bioware. KOTOR siglehandedly made them my favorite developers, and now this?! Who thought this was a good idea? They ought to be castrated. RIP, KOTOR.

How can they do this? How can they turn a game with such an enormous fan-base into a completely different experience? Do they expect the people who appreciate KOTOR to be interested in an MMO? Only retarded lab monkeys play MMOs! I hope this turns out to be false.

O would you whiny bitches stfu! Just think what kind of MMO Bio-ware can make, compared to their other RPG's it's gonna be stellar! I would hope they wouldn't be dumb enough to just release it just on xbox360 being that most MMO's are made for PC. So all you "O Noozzzz!!" guys out there need to get a grip.

I have mixed feelings about this. I've never played a MMO before, but Galaxies tempted me until I found out how badly the ruined it despite all its potential. However, if BioWare does as excellent a job at this as they've done with KOTOR I and apparently their other games, then KOTOR Online could be an amazing success.

Either way, it doesn't mark an end to the classic game style of KOTOR, just perhaps delays its comeback. According to this announcement, nobody really loses.

Don't think of the game as a kotor3. I think there going to use the kotor time line/ universe to make a great mmo. It's kotor online not kotor 3
