Sony: Wii Is An 'Expensive Niche'

Douse the forums in lighter fluid and let the E3 flaming ignite! Sony CEO Howard Stringer has his own opinion about Nintendo's Wii. While in Sun Valley, Idaho last week, he said:

"I've played a Nintendo Wii. I don't see it as a competitor. It's more of an expensive niche game device. We're selling a lot of PlayStation 3s now and it's still the best way to buy a Blu-ray player."

Microsoft also criticized Nintendo's hot selling console last week, stating that it's a 'novelty' that will eventually 'wear off'. With the Wii still goes strong in sales, we're sure Nintendo's not surprised with the amount of criticism the console gets. But make sure you stay tuned folks, live streaming of all upcoming conferences are on their way, and keep your browsers clicked on our E3 2008 page.
