“Epic” Music From 'Unreal Tourney 3'

Posted by Rick Damigella - Sunday, July 13, 2008 8:23 AM

So Unreal Tournament III came out late last year for the Playstation 3 and PC and has finally made its way onto the Xbox 360. Sumthing Else Music, who published the soundtrack album for the game, sent me a copy of the two-disc set a while back for review. Well since I was planning on playing the game on the 360, I decided to wait to spin the album till the game dropped. Well friends, that was big old “mai bad” right there.

I‘m a huge fan of game soundtracks that play equally as a stand alone listening experience as well as with the game imagery they were composed for. Based on some of your recent comments, so do quite a few of you. Let me tell you, if you enjoy well composed electronic beats with rock, orchestral and even ethnic flairs thrown in, this double disc set of UT3 music is some of the best away-from-the-game listening I’ve heard in a long time.

Featuring the one-two musical frag of composers Rom Di Prisco and Jesper Kyd, the two-disc set features over 150 minutes of music from the game, including original compositions from both game music veterans and UT3 remixes of some classic Unreal pieces. Both composers’ styles are rooted in the fundamentals of electronica and both of them paint with sonic textures that would let some pieces fit right in on rave dance floors and others spin perfectly in a chill-out lounge. Need something to listen to on a long drive (or even as an alternate soundtrack to your fav driving game)? This is it. I haven’t picked up the game yet, but the soundtrack hasn’t left my CD player since I put it in. Except to change to disc two.

Oh I'll just wait a year till the 360 one is out because who on the ps3 would care about it...come on man you can't pull that. Your suppose to review it based on content not because of what system the game is coming out for. Oh well we live and we learn.

@bullet53
unless you are really good at fps's using a controller... then go with the pc version. better graphics, faster/smoother gameplay, and tons of customs maps and mods.

pc ftw.

I'd get it for PC but my laptop runs Half-life 2, barely runs TF2... it probably couldn't handle that

Leave the music reviewing to actual musical journalists why dont'cha.

@Rox

There you go! Pulling that Fanboy stereo type out of you @#$! You don't know what people who have PS3 care about! What do you know about playing Sega Genesis, hooking up the headphones to it, and checking out the options screens to listen to all the music on the game, if it allowed you to. I use to always take a break from playingthe game and listen to it til I fell asleep. I did the same with the SNES but I hooked it up to a surround sound system. Even on Playstation 1, the first Tekken allowed you to listen to the soundtrack in CD mode. Now we can buy the games soundtrack if they market it. Yes, I'm already up on the stand alone soundtrack for UR3! So, stop your false, opinionated statements, please insert your foot in your mouth, and go ahead and wait for the 360 version, who cares! That's not what this Feed's thread was about, numb nut!

@Neverrain for his comment @Rox:

You rule! Couldn't have said it better myself.

@ bullet53

If you can get it for PS3, do so, its a really good game and u can have mods on PS3.

Lol they edited out the part where I said the writer probably thought punk started in the 2000s but they left in the part where he is incompetent. Oh well, at least they're honest.
