Oh, noes: SETI (The search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) is in danger. According to SETI@home, Arecibo Observatory, the world's largest radio telescope and the source for the SETI@home data that your computer analyzes, faces massive budget cuts that will end its ability to continue the search for life beyond Earth.
We're uncertain as to the wisdom of bringing our existence to the attention of almost-certainly hostile life-forms bent on our enslavement, but we'll give SETI the benefit of the doubt and urge you to help out. It's easy, and you hardly even have to get up off your lazy buttocks.
- Find your congress-person
- Use the online-letter generator to urge him or shim to save this important, space-alien-finding program.
- Print it.
- Affix stamp.
- Assign address.
- Mail.
- ???
- Profit!
On a personal note, I watched E.T.: The Extraterrestrial over the weekend, and that little bugger is sure is cute. If SETI can help populate our planet with Reeces Pieces-eating aliens that are high in adorability, I'll mail two letters to my congressperson.

Arecibo has been receiving less funding over the last few years, but is in no immediate danger. More likely then not, the needed 12ish million a year will be appropriated which is minuscule compared to the 15-20 billion/yr NASA spends or the 500 billion/yr the US spends on its "defense".
I think that's one of the reasons why it has taken so long, we're applying our rules to the universe, or atleast what we can see through a scope
and, Ganja is the gift from E.T. The Hemp plant saves earth as it can be used as fuel, it can feed third world countries, and can replace plastic as it is so biogradable and is best clothing material, and much, much, more!
Spock, Kirk and McCoy return to Earth, bewilderd at Earth for banning a plant brought to save them. "Illogical" says Spock, "How could they ban something so beneficial and gets them high"?
