Japanese business newspaper Nikkei reports that Toyota plans to implement solar panels to its highly popular green machine, the Prius, when the company redesigns the vehicle early next year. The solar panels are to be utilized for the upcoming high-end model's air conditioning system. Toyota will be the first major automaker to use solar power for a vehicle.
Rolling in the Japanese market in 1997, the Toyota Prius has been one of the leading influences in consumers' choices when it comes to purchasing hybrid cars, not to mention saving a couple of bucks at the pump. The Prius currently occupies over a million parking spaces around the globe since its first release, and with gas prices still currently inflating, expect it to fill more.
