Bungie Queues Up Free 'Halo 3' Map, Extras for 7/7/2008

Dust off those Halo 3 disks and get ready for a new map... for FREE!

In honor of "Bungie Day", which takes place every July 7th, Bungie is releasing a new map "Cold Storage", which was inspired from the map "Chill Out" from Halo: Combat Evolved.

In addition to a new battleground, the Legendary Map Pack will be discounted to 600 Microsoft Points, but only for the 7th. Players will also find "7 exclusive new gamerpics and a Bungie Day dashboard theme for free on Xbox LIVE Marketplace. Fans will need to be sure they download these on 7/7, because they will be available for one day only."

Good thing the 7th is Monday so you can enjoy all this great free content over the weekend... Oh wait, you can't! We love tradition, Bungie, but we love long weekends with new DLC more.

comeon they only made it free because the game is collecting dust. m$ never does anything free unless there is a reason. ohh wait you are paying for the net on that so maybe they felt like throwing you a freebe for a chance

The map will be free from 7/7 and stay free. It will be used in the same playlists that the Legendary map pack uses.

to bad i already sold my halo 3 two months after i got the game on the release date...halo 3 is a horrible game, 2 this date i still play halo 2 on pc and xbox with all my friends who also sold halo 3

halo 3 is more like halo 1 which was the best

halo 3 was an improvement in every way

and now there is a br only playlist where you move faster and do more damage and there is also a team swat playlist because of all of you halo 2 fanboys

this game is still alot of fun even to this day (2nd or 3rd on xbox live)...i don't understand anyone who doesn't like having fun playing a game plus you don't get owned playing it like you would if you popped in a few gears of war matches (matchmaking ftw)

Bout time we got a free map. I'm still holding off on the Legendary maps until they are made free. Pointless personal crusade to resist being nicle-and-dimed, if only it were nicles and dimes.... $10 is absurd for 3 maps, and yes so is the $7.50 it's going to be down to on the 7th.

I don't think bleahy is a fanboy, I've seen him post some negative things about the PS3(summer blockbuster failure???). He does post some of the best flamewar topics.

you're just pissed that Halo did not turn out to be the game to end all games!!!!

Halo has a sweet multiplayer but the single player lacks.

360 and live are awsome, do not get me wrong, but this is deinietly not the time (especially since we are practically in a freaking recession) to be wasteful with money (that is when there are a few loopholes you can enjpy instead)

Of course, no gamer score or permanent profile for you, but hey you can always create a silver account and generate some offline points on there... If your into keeping a gamerscore that is...

I would have bought a ps3, but that is kind of taking a step backwards believe it or not...

Everyone please go to Halo 3's campaign online and get as many kills as you can by July 7th (Bungie Day). We as a community are trying to get 7 billion kills by 7/7. We need as much help as we can, please tell your friends. HELP, HELP, HELP!!!!!!!

any who thinks halo 3 single player was week is just a sonyfanboy. its only because u dont have it and you just want to bash the game because it a 360 game thats just dumb if it was on PlayStation you would be lovin every minute of it . the single player was the best out of the 3 imo the first was good because it was the first fps to work really well on a console and the second was a multiplayers wet dream and if u put those 2 games together u get halo 3 one of the best game to be released on any gaming machine not because of the graphics or even the multilayer it was just dam fun . if u had some friends and turn on some skulls to make it harder all 4 of you could play together . that was EPIC the double scareb battle on legendary with a few skulls on with you and 3 friends dam that was fun and hard

i would like one sony boy to give one sony exclusive game that has bigger sales then halo & gears just name one . and if u say metal gear no im sorry halo 2&3 alone sold more copies then all of the mgs franchise , and my favorite one of all mgs3 subsistence sold less then all of them mgs2 sold 7million total halo 1,2,3 have sold 25 million copies to date worldwide and gears of war has sold a total of 7 million worldwide that's 32 million total cod4 just hit 10 million and thats with 360, pc and the ps3 combined

a price cut for the live membership would be nice. There might alos be a 60 gb hdd, which would buy in the snap of a finger, and a price cut of $20-30 on all of the console themselves. Talk about Christmas in July.

this sucks. i cant download this today because im silver. Gold ran out a little while ago. i dont have the game yet though. its sad. getting it friday.
