'Rock Band' Guitar Work With 'GH: Aerosmith'

Posted by Stephen Johnson - Thursday, July 03, 2008 10:49 AM

It hasn't been officially announced, and we've read reports to the contrary, but let us assure you: Rock Band guitar peripherals work perfectly with Activision's Guitar Hero: Aerosmith. We know because we just got finished playing it. The whammy-bar works. The "Star Power" works. It's all good. This is for the 360 version. We haven't tried it on the PlayStation 3 yet.

Whether this signals that Guitar Hero is loosening the reigns on future releases remains to be seen, but we wouldn't be surprised if Guitar Hero World Tour supports Rock Band (and Rock Band 2) instruments.

More photographic proof of this music-game periph-mixing is under the cut.

(here's G4's Ty Colfax plugging in his Rock Band Axe.)

(...then rockin' the hell out.)

(yes, it works in 2-player mode. BTW: I crushed Colfax, and was later schooled by M. D'Alonzo.)

I would like to see some cross compatibility on the Wii for RB and world tour. living room is already gonna be cluttered with the two guitar's I have, the new one that comes with World Tour, and the drums. I want to play Rock Band but I would rather wait for GH World Tour because of the space they take up.

P.S. GH Aerosmith is a good game ,but not worth the money. beat all the songs in one night

If this is done on purpose by Activision then it is EXTREMELY hypocritical. I've pretty much abandoned Guitar Hero because of the PS3 Les Paul Rock Band fiasco. I was considering GHWT because of the setlist but it looks like RB2 is going to top that as well. I'm glad for people for whom this will give cross-compatible guitars.

whos the poor shlub in the background trying to get work done?

I really hope they are compatible. I have GH3 but after seeing alot of the songs in Rock Band I think I would much rather have that but I'm not going to spend another $60 on buying a new guitar.

@StlHakusho

If you have a 360 Wireless guitar from GH3, then you are fine for it is compatible with RB on the 360.

The Guitar Hero 4 drums shown on the net have five drum pads plus a pedal, whereas the Rock Band drums have only four drum pads plus a pedal. There's no way you can use the RB drums in Guitar Hero, but hopefully you'll be able to use the Guitar Hero ones in Rock Band. I've got my fingers crossed that when the dust settles I'll be able to get by with owning only one drum set.
