New wave icons Devo are suing fast food giants McDonald over the chain’s American Idol-themed Happy Meal toys.
It seems that one of the free action figures that come with the Happy Meals is a dude named New Wave Nigel who looks suspiciously like any member of Devo from the “Whip It” video, the band’s biggest hit and their most recognizable look.
Devo is pissed Ronald and company are using the band's likeness as a marketing tool and never even bothered to ask permission!
Good thing they didn’t use the gay cowboy look that the non-band members in that video sport! Then they’d be sued by The Village People and every other guy strutting his stuff down Santa Monica Blvd in Hollywood!
