Details of upcoming superheroic MMO DC Universe will drop in the next edition of Edge magazine. Sony Online's executive creative director Jim Lee said DC Universe is a "kick-ass hybrid between a traditional MMO and a first-person action console game," but you wont' be able to play as Batman--or even Robin.
In the game, you'll be able to build your own superhero or super-villain, kit yourself out with a variety of super powers like shooting ice, shooting fire, acrobatics, flight, speed running and teleportation.
Although you won't be able to play as famous DC Characters like Wonder Woman and Dr. Sits-In-Chair*, you will interact with the famous figures in comic books. Two settings have been revealed--Gotham City and Metropolis--and the game itself will be a mixture of open world and instances. Yes, there will be PVP arenas to pit yourself against your mortal enemies.
There will be crossovers: "We can tie-in future DC tentpole events and translate the stories for the gaming world, and have them occur simultaneously," said Lee. "The possibilities are numerous and very exciting."
It comes out next year for the PC and PlayStation 3.
