'Metal Gear Solid 4' Sells 1 Million in Europe

Posted June 24, 2008 - By bleahy

Konami has announced that Metal Gear Solid 4 has sold over 1 million copies in Europe. Also, 25,000 of the sales came from the Limited Edition version of the game, which they now say is effectively sold out across Europe.

Metal Gear Solid is a franchise that has been historically very strong in Europe, but the game also sold well in Japan. Konami moved 500,000 copies of the Kojima Production's game in its first week of release, following the global release date of 6/12/2008.

We are still waiting on third-party and US numbers, but we are assuming they will be similar. Don't expect Halo 3 or Call of Duty 4 numbers, however. Stealth action is still a niche genre.
