New 'Guitar Hero World Tour' Details

The war is brewing. The future musical-multiplayer Armaggedon is upon us. Between the weight of Rock Band, Rock Revolution and Guitar Hero World Tour, can one planet sustain it all? Who knows. In the meantime, Activision's mulitplayer-rhythmic-gauntlet, Guitar Hero: World Tour, has been thrown down with more details.

Confirmed

- Tracks/Artists:

Sublime - "Santeria"
Billy Idol - "Rebel Yell"
Foo Fighters - "Everlong"
Linkin Park
Van Halen
The Eagles

- Confirmed included, a "touch-sensitive" guitar featuring a touch pad right below your standard 5 plastic button configuration. Players will be able distort sustained notes with a higher degree of customization than just a whammy bar. Also, IGN reports that fans of authentic slap bass will be able to replicate it on the device.

- Previous GH DLC WILL NOT be compatible on GH: World Tour.

- Possible 85 master tracks

- A focus on musical creation

oh man this is epic news. However the "guitar game" genre even though fun when it first came out is getting a little out of hand now. I mean there are just copying each other now.

dammit, i bought almost every dam dlc for gh3, at 6.25$ each for three songs a pop (and rock band does it for less) wth!!! i guess ima have to keep the game for all eternity than. All i know they better make a real guitar replica, they already made it with the drums. All i went is notes representing the 5 strings, going down the fret board,

DLC wont matter any more. people who are good with the music creator will probably make a song you would like, o and its FREE to download custom made ones. I'm not sure how the no-vocals rule for the music creator will affect it, but it will still be awesome

(btw, more instruments is not an original idea by rock band. guitar hero has always had plans to branch out to drums and such. Activision already copyrighted "drum hero" before rock band even came out!)

they showed www.ign.com the guitar they are using, and it looks really cool, more realistic, and they say it's the best guitar peripheral theyve seen so far

its about damn time someone includes(i hope) a blink 182 song.....it was criminal for rock band to not have blink in the game(i know there was dlc but i mean actually in the game). If blink is not in GH 4 i will flip

im hoping for SOAD as well but I'm thinking it will be a cover since they aren't togethor anymore. if so I hope they do a good job and pick a nice song. KoRn will also be really cool. This is awesome News.

I just hope that the original feel of the previous games isn't lost in this one. I mean, I have all but the very first GH and every time it's just gotten a little better and the inclusion of too many options IMO will saturate the game too much for casual/hardcore fans like me. And I also hope that the single player mode is just as satisfying as before because I really don't know anyone else who plays GH. But other than that, I'll be in line when it comes out hell yeah!

You know what, the new Guitar Hero has really got me thinking about games in general, and the way games pertain to casual and hardcore fans. I've come to realize that casual fans can SUCK IT!!!!! You have had 4 years and 3 games to get good, if all of this extra depth and sophistication is too much for you to handle, than go play with youself. Games shouldnt have to be watered down and unchanging because the causual market demands it, let the Wii ruin games.

Ok it's nice that it's going to be more realistic and all, but thats not what the original guitar heros were about! It was about just pretending to be a rockstar, it was about feeling acomplished when you hit the blue note with your pinky, it was about having fun!
And now activision is just over complicating everything. They're going to screw up guitar heroe just like they screwed up the tony hawk series, by giving us to many options. but thats just my opinion. plus rock band is getting The Greatest Man That Ever Livedso thats pretty cool =)

@FieryDonuthole: they dont need the whole band to come in and record the song, they just need the permission of whoever owns the rights to the songs and a master recording, besides out of all 85 or more songs they're all suposed to be master versions. and soad is on a "hiatus" not really broken up, depending on who you ask so if daron, serj, etc let them use the song then there should be no problem
