Godfather Estate Sues Paramount

Posted June 20, 2008 - By TylerColfax

The soon-to-be-released and much anticipated Godfather II, sequel to The Godfather from EA, may get a big delay.

Anthony Puzo, son of Mario Puzo, the author of the novel that spawned the film series, is suing Paramount who bought the rights to make the book a movie back in the early 70s. Apparently there was another contract between Paramount and Mario put together in 1992 that would divvy up monies made from anything audiovisual that was sold or rented relating to the films. Videogames would fall under that canopy and the Puzo estate has not received anything from the first game. Woops.

TheFeed legal analysts are predicting a settlement out of court for an undisclosed amount that makes both parties happy and gives the world another Godfather game.
