'Clone Wars' Gets Two New Games

Posted by Ty Colfax - Thursday, June 19, 2008 9:52 AM

The DS and the Wii are going to get new games inspired by the upcoming Clone Wars fictions. Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels will feature motion controlled combat. However, "It's not a Lightsaber simulator, but when you swing your Wii remote left to right; your character does the same," said producer Ken Fox.

So, you've given us half of the awesomest gift you could ever give us. Thanks?

The DS game entitled Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Jedi Alliance will utilize the stylus for unique attack combinations. There is also apparently a maneuver where two Jedi combine forces and fight as one, although we're not sure what that means.

The movie is out August 15th, with the TV series up in the fall and the games' release dates sometime around Christmas. No word on the KOTOR MMO and LucasArts reps have said there will be no announcements at E3.

It boggles my mind that we are this far into the existance of the Wii and there is still not a proper "lightsaber simulation" Star Wars game. If I were a LucasArts stockholder (I'm not even sure if they are a publicly traded company, but for my argument, let's assume they are), I would be VERY dissapointed that there hasn't been a game to come out yet, for even if the game was an absolute disaster it would still make money by the boatload. Whatever the reason LucasArts is holding out, lets hope it's a good one!

They have not made one yet because the wii sucks and doesn't have the processing power for realtime light saber simulation. look for the lightsaber sim on ps3/360 after their motion controls are shown at e3 next month!

My hope is that in the movie, general grevious is the kick ass, four jedi at once without a scratch dude from the animated series.
Not the hacking pussywhip from the movie who died from a blaster bolt

Is it just me or does anyone else HATE games that have double colon titles???

Maybe I'm being too nitpicky, but it just looks really lame.
