Tons of 'Team Fortress 2' Info

Posted by Stephen Johnson - Wednesday, June 18, 2008 8:14 AM

Valve unleashed a ton of new info on cartoony, multiplayer combat game Team Fortress 2 on their just-launched pyro-specific website. If you prefer playing a fire-bug, the new pyro upgrades ought to make you crazy happy. Here's what's new:

  • Two new gamer-created maps.
  • Three new pyro weapons
  • Full list of pyro achievements
  • A new video--"Meet the sniper."

As if that wasn't enough, the company is offering you a free weekend. From the 20th-22nd, you can download Steam and play Team Fortress 2 gratis.

First, the maps:

created by Arttu "skdr" Mäki

A control point map with five points, in the style of Badlands. Its symmetrical layout provides for high-speed and well balanced gameplay, while the multiple indoor routes, connected to larger outdoor arenas, provide a wide set of interesting and varied combat spaces. The arena-style control points require solid teamwork to capture and hold

created by Bill Johnston

A CTF map inside a large industrial compound. It's clean and straightforward, making it easy to learn, but its well balanced layout ensures there are still a wide variety of strategic choices for teams to make, and for individual classes to shine. Competitive teams and players have already popularized this one.

Now, the weapons:

Replaces the shotgun. It allows the Pyro to ignite an enemy at long range, but does require careful aim on their part. It’s particularly useful for causing havoc on Snipers and Engineers who want to keep their distance.

This flamethrower is built for the Pyro who likes to ambush their opponents. It removes the compression blast capability, instead guaranteeing critical hits whenever it’s used on an opponent from behind. To aid in survivability, it grants the Pyro an extra fifty health.

This mighty axe guarantees critical hits on any enemy that’s currently on fire, although it’s significantly weaker against enemies who aren’t. A great combination with the The Flare Gun, or with another Pyro buddy riding alongside doing the igniting.

Check out the official site for full achievement list!

Why do you always post that?

Posted by Bookshelf - Wednesday, June 18, 2008 8:49 AM

@sjohnson

cause u post articles on nothing in particularly interesting seeing you are biased and no one here likes that at all.

A lot of people play Team Fortress 2.

Posted by zimmy69 - Wednesday, June 18, 2008 8:55 AM

Is this for the pc only? because if it is that really sucks

Posted by Bookshelf - Wednesday, June 18, 2008 9:00 AM

@sjohnson

yeah and a few million people are playing MGS4 at the moment so what do you think is more important during this time? im sorry i sound like an a-hole but honestly, all you do is start flame wars by taking facts and twisting them to sound like a negative against anything to do with the PS3.

I love Team Fortress 2, and thank you for informing me of this because I acually have the PC version.

Oh noes....

I play TF2 and like the post that sjohnson made.
@Bookshelf: At no point in the article did it attack the PS3. It is unfortune that the PS3 has a different support for TF2 then PC or x-box.

And for anyone who plays MGS4, when your done TF2 will be here for you.
