Study Finds Red Better Than Blue

The greatest rivalry in videogame history finally has a clear and concise winner: According to a report in the journal Cyberpsychology & Behavior, the Red team is better than the Blue team.

The study looked at 1,347 matches between "elite teams" in Unreal Tournament 2004, and determined that, all other things being equal, the team in red won 55 percent of the time.

No one knows why, exactly, but some feel the color red may be distracting enough to tip the balance in favor of the people wearing it, or it could be that red is the color of fire, and fire can burn huge forests, where blue is the color of blueberries, and blueberries are a tasty summertime treat.

"While this is really an interesting analysis, the notion of red team versus blue team has been ingrained in the Unreal Tournament series for years. We don't anticipate any immediate changes to team colors," said Epic Games vice president Mark Rein to 1up.com.
