'Call of Duty 5' Details Revealed

Posted by Stephen Johnson - Monday, June 09, 2008 7:42 AM

New details have leaked out about Call of Duty 5.

British gaming magazine GamesTM, the iteration of the first-person historical shooter will be called Call of Duty: World at War and is set within the Pacific Theater of World War II. Supposedly, it allows for co-op, a first for the series, and vehicles in multiplayer. The game's opening scene reportedly features a torture scenario in which a prisoner eye is burned with a cigarette (wow!) and blood is liberally splashed.

Call of Duty 5 is slated for a fall release on the PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, Xbox 360, Wii and Nintendo DS.

Cool enough. Hopefully people will pick it up, and not skip it to wait for COD6 when they bring the series back to the present.

Posted by maxpowr9822 - Monday, June 9, 2008 8:08 AM

With all the success of Modern Warfare, why on earth would Activision want to go back to WWII games???? This is an OVER SATURATED MARKET....way to shaft the fans of COD4.....idiots!!

Posted by jargy1 - Monday, June 9, 2008 8:11 AM

After CoD2 I was burned out with the WW2 setting. I got 3 out of a love for the series and never bothered to beat it. 4 is alright, but I don't think it's up to all the love it gets. I think I'll passing on this one. Not because of the setting (though that's a big argument against it already) but because they already seem to be going for shock factor over anything interesting. Make sure you don't talk about level design or why I should buy my 500th WW2 shooter, talk about the liberal amounts of blood and torture. Way to phone it in. And does anyone else see this opening scene as a desperate bid to copy the supposedly shocking intro to CoD4? Lame.

Posted by travelmaps - Monday, June 9, 2008 8:20 AM

i love cod4 but... this sounds... lame. really... really... lame. hopefully there is a demo...

Posted by SpotRamer - Monday, June 9, 2008 8:23 AM

I hope its a lie!

Posted by philhuddy - Monday, June 9, 2008 8:25 AM

yes, this sounds really gay. i dont even know why they got Treyarch to do it. But good news is...Infinity ward is ALREADY workin on COD6, and will be in the modern era, so im hyped for that.

im just SO TIRED of WW2!

Posted by saneroner - Monday, June 9, 2008 8:27 AM

nooo, i dont want to go back to ww2

Posted by MooNdoGG420 - Monday, June 9, 2008 8:31 AM

I've never played any of the previous entries in the COD franchise... But I still play COD4, Double XP was fun this weekend. I don't think that I'm going to start playing in WWII with this one, Think I'll just wait til COD6 comes out...Seems like a step back to make a WWII game.

Posted by Hyphnip - Monday, June 9, 2008 8:32 AM

i will not buy this. WW2 has too many games. I think it's time to move on.

Posted by ichaboddanger - Monday, June 9, 2008 8:35 AM

they should try to tackle a future where they have weapons like the ones in frontline fuel of war. not the best game, but they did well with their weapons and such.

Posted by ichaboddanger - Monday, June 9, 2008 8:36 AM

you know you noobs will buy this once it is all that your friends are playing online.

Posted by Genderstream - Monday, June 9, 2008 8:42 AM

Yeah there are a lot of WW2 games, but they're all in Europe except for one medal of honor game and that one's old. I'm excited for operation cartwheel.

Posted by lcromy - Monday, June 9, 2008 8:42 AM

Frickin goddamn dumbasses. Stay modern.

Posted by EddieBlaze - Monday, June 9, 2008 8:43 AM

Weak sauce. No infinity ward either?

Looks like Battlefield will be making it's way to the top of the live charts.

Posted by JayDogg24 - Monday, June 9, 2008 8:49 AM

LOL, this is by the same people that made COD3, the game whose existence was not acknowledge by the COD community. COD3 didn't even have a multiplayer, what a joke. They're just milking the title name for a little extra cash. If it's not infinity ward, it won't be acknowledged as a real call of duty title.

Posted by etooley7845 - Monday, June 9, 2008 8:50 AM

Although I also like Call of Duty 4 and wish that they had stuck with the modern era, I'm going to AT LEAST learn more about this game and give it a try, rather than just dismiss it out of hand. The COD 4 engine + vehicles in multiplayer + fighting in Japan COULD be interesting. I'll see...

Posted by pitdemon72 - Monday, June 9, 2008 8:53 AM

Lookin forward to it.

Posted by 30below - Monday, June 9, 2008 8:55 AM

a slight step back for a game that hit the 10 million sold mark. apparently common sense is not one of their strong points

Gaming is just getting too corporate. Tossing another game in the series out there just to turn a buck is flat out stupid. Shooters are getting pathetic with this. The only one out there that's shown anything half impressive is Gears of War 2 and even that isn't getting my hopes up because the first was a massive let down. CoD needs something new. I don't want it to stick with modern settings either because that was pretty much done to death in CoD4 (I mean really, what else can they do?) but to go back to a setting that was played out 5 years ago is pathetic.

Posted by SgtSmashBabies - Monday, June 9, 2008 9:10 AM

Go ahead Ubisoft, throw in the promise of co-op, vehicles, and cigerette eye-burning. But that doesn't mean it's a good senario. Except for that cigerette thing, that sounds AWSOME! Mabye it burns out half the screen.

still,
Abrams beats Panzer

Posted by targetenemy - Monday, June 9, 2008 9:10 AM

Posted by darkmanXL - Monday, June 9, 2008 9:12 AM

@maxpowr9822

I agrre w/you I hink I'll have to pass I am so burnt out on WWII shooters.. It just makes no sense on why they would go back, they should build on modern warfare concept.. BAD decision..

Posted by darthmaul5654 - Monday, June 9, 2008 9:12 AM

AO rating, here we come!

Posted by SgtSmashBabies - Monday, June 9, 2008 9:16 AM

Since it's set in Jap'n, I wonder if that mean we get to use flame-throwers, have our whole country froget about us and leave the enemy to starve us, and chase villagers off a cliff in fear that we'll eat their souls...

...then eat some souls

Posted by collinE - Monday, June 9, 2008 9:19 AM

@jargy1

what else can they do? go to future warfare? maybe an xbla game? I figure, let bungie make halo until people are sick of it. let square make final fantasy. let infintyward and treyarch make COD.

these companies are doing what they excel at and leave it to another developer to come up with their own new ip. would you rather infinityward do a COD RPG? or maybe like a COD fashion game. I'd rather get an FPS from people with experience in FPS's

Posted by mynutsonyourgrill - Monday, June 9, 2008 9:19 AM

If Infinity Ward is not making it, then it is going to suck anyways, butt holes.

Posted by shroomguy - Monday, June 9, 2008 9:20 AM

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOO!!!!!

Posted by Bookshelf - Monday, June 9, 2008 9:22 AM

Bummer.. Hope it does something that ALL of the other WWII games have not done... which is not much...

Posted by SgtSmashBabies - Monday, June 9, 2008 9:22 AM

mynutsonyourgrill, Infinity ward had ONE good game, and that was CoD4. That was the ONLY Cod game they made. Since it's back in WW2, why do you think its still Infinity Ward?

Posted by travelmaps - Monday, June 9, 2008 9:22 AM

@lazyteabag lol actually i think that description for this game is going to be more accurate than you know...

Posted by collinE - Monday, June 9, 2008 9:22 AM

chalk that last sentence, I don't know what I was saying.

Posted by panzerfist - Monday, June 9, 2008 9:25 AM

If it holds up like CoD4, even though the main selling point was it's modern, then i think it'll be good, even if it's WWII. The main reason i find it different is that it's not germany or any part of europe, it's japan. Believe it or not those are 2 totally different wars.

Posted by SgtSmashBabies - Monday, June 9, 2008 9:28 AM

For the record, I, and I bet alot of people, dont give a damn about a war-time vehicle section. If you've played any CoD game, then you know that you completely powerless to some guy with a sachle charge and it takes a long-ass time to get out of a tank

Posted by SgtSmashBabies - Monday, June 9, 2008 9:31 AM

Online play: Japenese team take hold in a hospital in Hyroshima, oh yeah...

Posted by changbang - Monday, June 9, 2008 9:33 AM

I wonder if anyone will find it racist that you play as a white guy (you know he's gonna be white) that kills Japanese people.

Posted by BladesOfChaos - Monday, June 9, 2008 9:36 AM

@lazyteabag-
You stupid lazy bag of tea, Infinity Ward also made Call of Duty and Call of Duty 2.

COD4 is their 3RD Call of Duty game.

You're information is obsolete, as well as your opinion, seeing as how Call of Duty (the original, which Infinity Ward also made, in case you didn't hear me the first time) won over 80 GOTY awards. GOTY = Game Of The Year. You know, the same award that Bioshock and God of War 2 and Halo 2 won. The most coveted award in video gaming...

Do you get the point?

Posted by changbang - Monday, June 9, 2008 9:36 AM

I also don't think it's that bad that they went back to WWII. Most of those games take place in Europe, but at least this one has a new setting.

Posted by SgtSmashBabies - Monday, June 9, 2008 9:37 AM

@changbang, first off, I know by your name that your chinese, so you sould take pride in killing the islanders. Second, there were a LOT of black and latino (no, not just mexican) soldiers too. No asians though, god no, we had them all locked up :)

Posted by ratshady - Monday, June 9, 2008 9:38 AM

WW2 AGAIN

NOOOOOOOO

Posted by gravy666 - Monday, June 9, 2008 9:38 AM

Co-op? Yay!
World War II? Not yay! (But being in the Pacific Theater? It works this time)
Vehicles in multiplayer? Not yay!

Posted by KindredEX - Monday, June 9, 2008 9:39 AM

The only thing that Treyarch can put in this game that will make it at least a 2 out of 5 is the ability to call in a nuclear bomb if you get a kill spree of 20. Unfortunately you AND everyone else on the multiplayer board dies....

I'll wait for the REAL COD developers' next version, not the knock offs that made COD3.

Posted by SgtSmashBabies - Monday, June 9, 2008 9:43 AM

Well, BladesOfChaos, I didnt PLAY thet first two CoD's, so stfu. If I were a fanboy, mabye I'd notice, and I dont care if it won 80 GOTY awards,(that means game of the year, DEEEERRRRR) and I dont care If you look for that kind of stuff to tell if its a good game.

Compare your world to mine and kill yourself you C.U.N.T

Posted by csprock - Monday, June 9, 2008 9:44 AM

WWII = Fail

Posted by changbang - Monday, June 9, 2008 9:48 AM

Uh.. no..... it was just the Japanese that were. Not all Asian Americans. And acutally, dude, I'm not Chinese. And yea, there are other people of different ethnicities in the military, but it's still mostly white.

Posted by hetman - Monday, June 9, 2008 9:51 AM

Hopefully battelfield bad company will be less laggy when the full game is released. Because WWII is just not my cup of tea anymore.

Posted by cruzzercruz - Monday, June 9, 2008 9:53 AM

CoD + Treyarch = EPIC FAIL

Posted by yoshiarecool - Monday, June 9, 2008 9:53 AM

I'm not surprised at all.
Activision: "Great job Infinity Ward for making the best selling game of 2007, and one of the highest rated of 2007. The COD franchise has a ton of reverence with the gaming community, and they see it as a pinnacle of FPS gaming.
So, we have decided to return to WW2, put Treyarch as the developer, improve on nothing, and shove it out there in order to milk every last dollar out of the franchise. Enjoy seeing your creation turn into a cashcow."

Posted by SgtSmashBabies - Monday, June 9, 2008 9:55 AM

changbang, then you've never seen Jarhead. Soldiers are not white, nor black, nor yellow, nor brown, now purple, they are just soldiers. Except the japanese soliers, their all chi-I not that mean

Maybe next time they'll go back to WWI or the War of 1812 so we can spend a couple minutes reloading after each shot.

Posted by face0324 - Monday, June 9, 2008 10:20 AM

if they do it from the nazi perspective or do something differant than i might rent it.

Posted by rocknjayhawks - Monday, June 9, 2008 10:26 AM

Do we know if Infinity ward is doing the game or are they going back to the company that did 3. If that is the case or even a new company it is going to be worthless i thought they would learn that by now. People loved call of duty 2 and 4. Call of duty 3 is horible. Hopefully that is just a flash back to WWII to start the game and give the setting but the game plays in the present. Well we will have to wait and see.

Posted by BONERJAM - Monday, June 9, 2008 10:28 AM

If IW doesnt make it I dont buy it. It is InfinityWard's franchise and Treyarch only seems to take a great product and piss all over it.

Posted by rocknjayhawks - Monday, June 9, 2008 10:30 AM

If they are serrious about releasing it this fall? That is stupid. Why go up against resistance 2 and gears of war 2? Those will both blow call of duty 5 out the water if it is not in modern day, but even if it is they hype around those two game you have to ask why would they even consider a fall release with so many huge titles comming out end of this year.

Posted by tonytorres123 - Monday, June 9, 2008 10:36 AM

Wow its for PS2 and Wii I must really SUCK hairy Balzz. Plus WWII that really sucks i dont care to much cod4 wasnt all that anyway

Posted by Me_And_Clank - Monday, June 9, 2008 10:37 AM

Wouldnt it have been good that it would have tookin place betwween the 20 years that captain price mentioned ?

Posted by Jedihunter15 - Monday, June 9, 2008 10:38 AM

Lame. Im not buying. Really, there is only a very small hand full of games that get Vehicles right, and WW2 is seriously played out.

Posted by Bossmoonpie117 - Monday, June 9, 2008 10:44 AM

Looks like it's finally time to come to terms with this nonsense. I had hoped it was false allegations and the like, but it's becoming increasingly clear that this is a true story. I don't even know what to say. It was a mistake to not pick up infinity ward and it's a mistake to go back to world war II...end of story. Infinity Ward is what made CoD4 so great...those guys really knew what they were doing. I didn't even play CoD3 because I was sick of WWII...and that hasn't changed. I will not be buying this game...it might warrant a rental if I hear good things. Even the fact that it's being released on PS2 and Wii speaks volumes to me. They're gonna be kicking themselves for a while this fall methinks.

Posted by pranksalot333 - Monday, June 9, 2008 10:53 AM

that sucks but i hope the gameplay is just as good or better. the vehicle thing might be cool.i like the fake war better becase thay can make up a cool story line.

Posted by Kagez28 - Monday, June 9, 2008 11:02 AM

what if they had the surviving members of COD4 ready to go to war again but then they are ripped back in time by some new secret world government organization and set to help fight in world war II. Present weapons in a past setting....

i might rent it then :(

Posted by rocknjayhawks - Monday, June 9, 2008 11:29 AM

That actualy sounds kinda cool kagez28 lol

Sweet PS2

Posted by collinE - Monday, June 9, 2008 11:39 AM

@lazyteabag

you're kinda being a jerk. you obviously can't handle somebody else correcting your mistakes either. so here's another:

jarhead is a movie about marines. anybody who knows anything about the military knows that marines aren't "soldiers." only members of the army are soldiers. you learn that in jarhead?

don't base your concept of reality off of a movie.

Posted by BladesOfChaos - Monday, June 9, 2008 11:40 AM

@lazyteabag-

I've never played a COD game, so you can't call me a fanboy of the series.

I just like for people to have correct information.

Also, the idea that your opinion on a game is absolute for everyone is a bad way to go. I like to read reviews before I go buying a game I know nothing about.

Also, about that comment you made about Jarhead:
Awesome movie. Sort of reminds me of Full Metal Jacket, another awesome movie.

Posted by BladesOfChaos - Monday, June 9, 2008 11:44 AM

-continued
Also, that quote you made was from Full Metal Jacket. You know, about the whole not purple, black, white, brown, yellow.

In the iconic introductory speech by R. Lee Ermey, this was said.

Now I want to go home and watch Full Metal Jacket. Thanks, lazyteabag.

Posted by BladesOfChaos - Monday, June 9, 2008 11:48 AM

@collinE-

I heard some quotes back when I was in ROTC.

"Men do not win wars by dying for their country. They win wars by making other men die for their country."

"The Commanding General of the Air Force is still an airman. The Commanding General of the Army is still a soldier. The Commanding Admiral of the Navy is still a seaman. But the Commandant of the Marine Corps is d#$@ proud to be called Marine."

Posted by collinE - Monday, June 9, 2008 11:59 AM

mmmm good quotes. I saw the first one while dying in COD, but never heard the second one.

and I never thought about it that marines are the only ones who retain their branch of the military as their name.

it could be that they were originally part of the navy and they were called after their division, much like seals and green berets, but still retained it after becoming their own branch.

Posted by fozzy360 - Monday, June 9, 2008 12:03 PM

Unless the demo blows me away, I will not picking it up. Stop with the milking of WWII already!

Posted by VergilSnake - Monday, June 9, 2008 12:11 PM

Eh, I'll give it a try. Call of Duty is Cal of Duty after all. Stop bitching soldiers.

Posted by BELROCK86 - Monday, June 9, 2008 12:13 PM

This has got to be a lie there is no way Call of Duty is going back to World War 2 again they know that if they do people won't buy it I am skeptical about a report from some British magazine I am waiting to see what happens at E3 where this will be revealed as a joke I hope.

Posted by Platformermaniac - Monday, June 9, 2008 12:16 PM

Activision wants to make sure that there is a new Call of Duty game released every year as they are taking the EA approach to game releases. Unfortunately for them, It takes Infinity Ward too long to make each game so they hired Treyarch to make games in the series as well. I think Call of Duty is the only series that actually has two different development teams. It seems that for the foreseeable future, Infinity Ward will be making every other release in the series. There is no reason to get too upset though. Nobody is forcing us to buy this game and Infinity Ward's next game will probably release next year. I hope Call of Duty 6 does future warfare. Maybe something about century from now.

Posted by pocketsizedude98 - Monday, June 9, 2008 12:19 PM

@Bladesofchaos

The comment about not being blue or yellow is also in Jarhead. I agree that Full Metal Jacket is an awesome movie. And I personally think that COD5 should be set in the Civil War. Why should WW2 get all the love?
Just kidding, but WW2 shooters are really played out, in my opinion.

Posted by kryptoid - Monday, June 9, 2008 12:40 PM

Personally i feel the WWII games have been over done. Grant COD is a great version of the genre but everyone was really excited for the lastest cause it WASNT a WWII game. I would love to see a Vietnam version of the series. You could have the Americans, NVA, Viet Kong, and even throw in some French troops (doubt they would fight much).

Posted by BONERJAM - Monday, June 9, 2008 1:03 PM

@kryptoid

I agree, I have wanted a Veitnam FPS for a long time, I think IW could make it great.

Posted by anonomousperson - Monday, June 9, 2008 2:02 PM

WWII games have been made for several years longer than the actual war lasted.

Modern Warfare was a grand slam.

In order for the next COD to hit the parking lot, they need something brand new that has been overlooked in their department. I feel Treyarch is going to give it to them. They did it in COD3 with the grenade throwback.

The game itself may be a flop (I will rent this to test it), but the innovations might make 6 that much better.

Posted by ChamplooCarolina - Monday, June 9, 2008 2:32 PM

That's really going to chase away COD fans! How about getting back to Modern era?!

Posted by Zmeeds - Monday, June 9, 2008 4:01 PM

How's about a WW3 COD???!!! Not so distant future with slightly more advanced weapons, nothing too far fetched like laser guns. Fight in a blown-up Paris, defend America's resources, etc. I'm sure they could create a story around some vague far east country with a tiny dictator, middle east countries thrown in for good measure. And they better include a better clan-based online system more like SOCOM's!!!! COD4 online is good but could be SO much better.

Posted by vismortis - Monday, June 9, 2008 4:05 PM

this sounds like a skip. ill just wait for the rightful makers to return with COD6 in 09 GO IW

you guys havnt even seen game play yet so how can you say not buying? hahaha.

any ways its against the jap and thats new. Hopefully they have a bombing mission like the the one in cod4 but with atomic bombs hahaha

i dont care il be playing resistance fall of man 2

Posted by Rogue09 - Monday, June 9, 2008 5:10 PM

I think a WWII game set in the Islands of Japan will be a fresh breeze compared to all the Nazi killing we've all done. Throw in CoD4's graphics and online multiplayer, and we got ourselves a possible GOTY.

I think vehicles are something that will revolutionize CoD5. There will have to be bigger maps and if it plays out kinda like Battlefield, I think it will increase the fun of Multiplayer! Who else has been tired of that stupid sniper camping of a hill where you can't get to him? Hop in a Humvee and bring 3 of your friends for some Camper Bashing! (Also, character customization in terms of looks and camo/baggage would not be amiss)

a world war one game and a vietnam game would be pretty tight if they made it right.

Posted by TJrAvA - Monday, June 9, 2008 9:06 PM

Alright, for all of us that have loved CoD4, we should give this a try. I mean look at the graphics of CoD4, the best, and CoD5 will be no different. It'll also have Co-op? Even better. This game could become great, We don't know all of the facts yet, so lets not point fingers. But, going back to WWII might change some minds of CoD4 lovers, but you never know, there could be some great surprises in the next game.

i Think that it is a gimmc trying to tie up loose ends. 3 of their games took place during the european threatre of the war. now they want to come up with the pacific side... in my opinion they should of done this at maybe the 3rd call of duty game. Especially since they went to the mordern warfare. If i want the same game might as well buy meadal of honor pacific assult....

Posted by GoldenArms951 - Monday, June 9, 2008 11:21 PM

Reading all these comments just made me realize something, im the only one hyped up for this. If they put as much attention to this as they did to CoD4, it'll be a shoe-in for Game of the Year(depending on what year it comes out)Come oooooooon good multiplayer.

I'am seriously insulted by you people who call it gay. My grandfather fought in the pacific and we finally need a pacific side of WWII there were only a few and the only FPS was Medal of Honor Rising Sun.

I think it would be too soon to make another modern COD, it would probably play out more like a big DLC, instead of a whole new game. To the guy that thinks battlefield is the next COD, I've been playing Battlefield Demo, and man it stinks. I hope COD 5 keeps the intuitive gameplay of COD 4 because the flow of COD 4 is what makes it such a good game. I also hope they do a better job on vehicle controls, and overal feel, than Battlefield Demo has. I know that the WW2 genre is saturated, but to be honest over the past year the modern and future warfare genre has been flooded too. SOCOM, Battlefield, Endwar, Frontline, COD4. I think we all realise as gamers it's not what you do, but how you do it. Look at Boom Blox simple idea executed superbly = good game. Then you take Haze good idea executed poorly = bad game.

all i can say is ..............................

BOB SAGET!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally a WWII game where you can fight Japanese soldiers. Medal of Honor made a WWII game in the pacific, I hope call of duty make it better.

By the way I am not really sure if Japan will appreciate this game.

I just want to say that everyone who is excited that it is a new Call of Duty game is being foolish.(this is here because I'm forbidden to write this because apparently a period and a space aren't enough to keep peoples minds out of the gutter, way to go G4) It is not the brand or publisher that matters. It is the developer that matters and Infinity Ward is not making this one. That is why it is going back to WW2, Treyarch dose not care what direction Infinity Ward wants to go. It is just another pay day for them, an easy one at that. I hope they don't ruin this and turn it into the next Madden.

Posted by magopus6 - Tuesday, June 10, 2008 9:32 AM

@kryptoid, and bonerjamz '03,

vietnam war theatre would be pretty sick in my opinion! i agree with you guys, i was really hoping treyarch would announce a vietnam cod 5, while infinity ward sticks true to modern with 6. A sweet vietnam fps is needed of since im sooooo sick of WWII. after shooting an m4 and barret 50 cal, i just cant go back to the thompson and well......whatever sniper we used back then lol

@halomugen, I agree I havent played one ww2 game set in the pacific, so I think this game will be cool, I finally get to kill some japs, ooh, I am Japanese, damn

YAY FINALLY!! Every WWII game I've ever played is in the European Theater. Now onto my favorite theater. THE PACIFIC THEATER!!!!
Its so hard to find a good Pacific Theater Game!

Posted by killzonez94 - Tuesday, June 10, 2008 1:07 PM

well i dont really wanna go back to ww2 -.-" but it IS treyarch we're talking about.id rather infinity ward make the next modern cod than them.so yeah idrc, but i kinda dig the pacific theater thing.that sounds like iwo jima to me =D

I will skip it... I had enough of WW2 FPS. I don't care if the game is going to look as good as COD4. It stupid and it's not worth going back too. After finally getting a great modern FPS, why go back. Not a good idea at all.

Posted by santjnthn - Tuesday, June 10, 2008 3:39 PM

@-Halomugen89

Thank your grandfather for his service. My comments is only based on my personal choice of game, not against anyone involved with the war. There are many WWII games, and I was really happy to finally play a game with a more modern feel. I hope this trend continues. I think that another WWII game will hurt the COD franchise.

Posted by Gameking2084 - Tuesday, June 10, 2008 5:53 PM

any one think that having vehicles in the multi player player will heart the game just like it did in some other PC and Console games?

Posted by sps73 - Tuesday, June 10, 2008 8:34 PM

LIGHT GREEN MARINES AND DARK GREEN MARINES are what you are called in the Marine Corps, and to the dude earlier that thaught the Marine Corps was once a Navy unit well thats not true, the Marine corps has always been it's own branch it's just a department of the Navy, somebody has to protect the fatass Navy! I'll tell you what we say in the Corps...

THE MARINE CORPS IS A DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY, THE MENS DEPARTMENT!!

Posted by sps73 - Tuesday, June 10, 2008 8:41 PM

And this call of duty should "MOST DEFFINITELLY" be made, All of those Marines (not f#cking soldiers) and sailers should get the honor they deserve since they did fight the toughest battles of WWII, and thats a fact!

This game will be great, the Island hopping campain, Iwo Jima here we come to raise the flag on mt. suribachi...OOHRAH!!

Posted by k00laid - Thursday, June 12, 2008 10:22 AM

o yea to cod5 its going to be the next BIG thing for fps games.

Posted by k00laid - Thursday, June 12, 2008 10:39 AM

cod5 is going to be good no very very good 1 thir is going to be vehicles agan like cod3 oyea and 2 thir r makeing this cod game the first co-op ever. Im a cod fan my self and i love cod4 but thiy could have workt on a few things put in vehicles, make it so u can put more things on to your guns. But what im trying to say is just give cod5 a try it might have some stuff u may like that cod4 dont have:)

Posted by k00laid - Thursday, June 12, 2008 10:51 AM

No gameking2084 i think that vehicles well make cod5 good if u havet played cod3 thin u should yes thir a lot of "out of level gliches" with the vehicles if thats what u r saying but im shur that thiy well fix all of that like i said if u have not played cod3 thin go pick it up. The vehicles make it more fun with the game play i mean how many good games do u play online with a tank comeing up on your a$$ when ur in a hum-v and u get blast to the other side of the map with your team mates and all u can think is "WOW THAT WAS A BLAST" give it a try.

Posted by MikeyG88 - Sunday, June 15, 2008 9:56 AM

CoD is in a rut and they're try to go in reverse and they're still stuck. There is no honor in reverse. I'd wish they'd stay in the forefront and satisfy the happy gamer.

Posted by Ruscle - Sunday, June 15, 2008 9:40 PM

One word. Stupid.

Posted by casper69 - Sunday, June 15, 2008 10:08 PM

This game is set in WW2, so it is most likely going to suck, like all of the other ones did that was set in this time period, because who really wants to play in a game that is older than your dads , dad what fun is that.

Posted by MooKoo27 - Monday, June 16, 2008 9:49 AM

Look guise, let's admit it, there aren't that many great WWII multiplayer games. I think what they're trying to do is go back and add a great multiplayer aspect to their great WWII era of the franchise. Smart move, I mean, there is only one 'real' competitor, and that is Battlefield 1942, and how old is that game now? Great game or not, some updated graphics, maybe perhaps some new gametypes, vehicles, and Call of Duty 5 looks to be quite promising.

I'll be looking forward to it myself personally. I'm expecting good things out of this.

Posted by frazer400 - Thursday, June 19, 2008 6:33 PM

Going back to WW2, ahhh the memories. I think it's a great idea, but I think they should leave out the perks. If your good with the weapons, great, but if you'r not, there shouldin't be anything to make you better than what you are. Perks are sorta like built-in cheats. Back then it was all skill.

Posted by frazer400 - Thursday, June 19, 2008 6:49 PM

All this talk about WW2 made me relize what happend TO WW1? honestly i dont know jack about it ,and they dont teach it in shcool whats whith that. is it not apart of our history?

Posted by LebronAI - Saturday, June 21, 2008 7:48 PM

this game will be better than COD4 in my opinion. Some people hated COD3 but some saw it as the best. It is different and is better or worse in its own ways. People who liked COD3 will buy this. Also, I know alot of people who prefer WW2 over Modern

Posted by Blindhazzard - Sunday, June 22, 2008 12:24 AM

wow, i love WW2 and i saw the trailer and to me it looks the same as cod4 just the guns and setting is different, stop wah wahing around and dont buy it? i played all the cod's and my favorite is number 3, 4 is great also but i like the ww2 setting, my opinion i dnt want no stupid childish feed back to my comment

Posted by JAYTRE - Tuesday, June 24, 2008 8:35 AM

WTF!!! Just when they finaly break out of the endless and repeative chain of ww games and give us modern warfare they take it from us and put us back into the world wars again,im so tired of fighting the nazis and japan unless im going to be indiana jones in a fps i dont wanna do it anymore,What happened to veitnam? or are we going to be like other countries and act like it didnt happen?wow they threw a sword, flame thrower and tree climbing into it,i give the game a week till it gets just as repeative as the others we all been playing since medal of honor...I'll pass WW is played out there was a time that it was real fun to kick hittlers ass and it had great stories those guys should be honored, but now i wanna trade my springfeild in for a sr25 and keep it that way.

Posted by Blindhazzard - Sunday, June 29, 2008 8:48 PM

well you have fun with that but, the past how ever many WW2 games their were (to many to count) how many actually was a good online multiplayer? hmm? i say cod 2 and 3 is pretty good but the online multi for most of others is rubbish, all the MOD's were not that great to me and if you dnt wanna play it dont buy it?

when is call of duty 5 comin out cause i have to know

Posted by Meander - Monday, July 7, 2008 10:26 AM

I cant wait for this game to come out. I love the cod 4 physics engine. Wow a WW2 game built from this can only be amazing. I for one think of a good shooter as being fun. Modern Warfare games are a bore, theres is just too much firepower for them to hold my interest. WW2 is the best era for FPS games. And to think this game will take place mostly in the Pacfic theatre where some of the most hellish fighting took place. My hope is that they can capture some of that horror in this game. I cant wait to turn cod 4 into a coaster.

I've always been a fan of the multiple "Call of Duty" titles whether it be the European theater or modern warfare. I am disappointed that infinity ward was not on for this project but i'm none the less excited about this latest installment of the series... especially online game play

(goes back to teh crackbox live)

call of duty 4 was good i dont know wat war it was about but call of duty 5 could be good with world war 2 so give it a chance but i have to admit the old game for this company sucked so i wouldnt doubt it sucking im gunna try it if i dont like it ill sell it but it could be fun.

Posted by ichi7223 - Monday, October 27, 2008 7:11 AM

the ww2 theme is really starting to piss me off and I've only played around 13 different games i feel bad for Addam Sessler and Morgan web it must suck to play over 200 games with the same theme call of duty did great with 4 they should have just made the second part of that but they always go back to ww2 i personally think its a waist of money to buy it at least until i see more vid's on it
