Well, Ole Jackie T. walked out of his disbarment hearing today before the proceedings were even finished. Subsequently, the presiding Judge Tunis recommended an "enhanced disbarment." We're not exactly sure what the "enhanced" part adds to the punishment, but we're thinking it involves him turning in his pants AND sock garters.
The best part is Thompson's epic statement to the courtroom where he called Judge Tunis "incompetent and arrogant" and threatened to have her removed from office "in the days and weeks ahead."
"I am “guilty” of being right and ahead of the curve when it came to Howard Stern and as to Grand Theft Auto. Because I took on Bar complainant, Al Cardenas, the Howard Stern Show is off terrestrial radio and his influence diminished."
Right. It had nothing to do with the fact that Sirius offered him $500 million to go off terrestrial radio.
He goes on: "Because I took on this cop-killing, woman-bashing video game, the Presidential race is now addressing the issue and this particular video game… Try to get me disbarred. Go ahead, do your worst, Referee Tunis. I will continue to do my best."
If he is disbarred, he'll be prevented from applying to practice law for 10 years anywhere in the U.S.
Kotaku has the full 4500-word statement Thompson made at the hearing earlier this morning. If you want to feel sick and regret living, you should check it out.

JUST A GIANT BAG OF DOUCHE.
Yeah, I usually just call those people fascists.
Victory! Ring the bells! Yell from the mountaintops! The idiot is dead! If only he had known wtf he was talking about! I wont miss him!

What Jackson didn't realize is that it is the FCC's job to dish out the punishment to these people, not his.
What an unending parade of embarrassment...
He came really close to it. in the link it shows the full statement and he started quoting the bible about "if the world hate u, then they hate me too."
@ Oinkness
And yea i agree, his cause it noble and very good to say the least. we, the gamers, nor the gaming industry really want M rated games in the hands and children that are easily influenced by violence. But we all can agree that he goes about it completely the wrong way, and instead of just tryin to make sure the game isnt sold to kids, he tries to get the games banned from stores, which would punish the adult gamers as well.

It just goes to show you. All of these anit-gaming fascists have far too much pride and have elevated themselves to self-appointed masters of morality. They think all their arrogance is justified and believe themselves media gatekeepers. Come on now! back-talking a judge! 'Ol Jack's so finished!
His kids probobly get beat up at school. I kinda feel sorry for them. someone shoudl take them in, show them the light!
I know what you mean.
FINISH HIM!
He doesn't NEED to be an attorney anymore--- he can make lots of money as a babbling talking head and book author.
He's not insane, he knows he doesn't need the grind of his law career anymore--- being a talking head posing as an activist is far more lucrative. Just ask Ann Coulter.
Please don't speak. Seriously. If you knew about majority of the laws placed on M rated games, you seriously wouldn't have said that. You are required to be ATLEAST 17 years of age or have a parent/guardian present to purchase it. One of my good friends worked at Gamestop was fired because they accused him of selling an M rated game to a minor. It's a serious offense.
Thompson is certainly off his rocker, his cause may have been noble at one time, but if anyone actually spent the time to read that garbage that managed to fall out of his mouth, I'm shocked he actually knows 4500 words...
EPIC LAWL!!!!!
@Neoshine
Yeah his intentions might have been noble at first but he is clearly off his rocker.
@TKnHappyNess
Why? He's no threat to gamers. Any valid arguments he might have (are there any?) are undone by his insane rants and disrespect for the courts.
Even FOX News won't touch this guy. The most damage he'll be able to do (ESPECIALLY after being disbarred for 10 years) is running a blog.
His cause was never noble, nor was the man. He wanted what he believed to be fact and it wasn't. He was never out to protect children, he was out to make videogames a scapegoat because he personally did not like them.
