'Fallout 3' Art Emboldens Terrorists

Posted by Patrick Roche-Sowa - Thursday, May 29, 2008 4:19 PM

If the above image looks familiar, it's because you've seen it before. This is a piece of concept art from the highly anticipated role-playing game Fallout 3. Pretty sweet, huh? Well according to US-based terrorist watch group SITE, this image is a "computer generated image, showing how Washington D.C. would look after a nuclear attack... posted on a radical chat site." Congratulations, we are now all enemies of the state.

What's funny is we're not sure who to blame for this hilarious example of just how clueless some of the people responsible for our national security are. Is it the fault of SITE and the privatization of our international intelligence agencies? Or the Australian news publication that posted it? Either way, this story gave us much entertainment, we hope it does the same for you. Just make sure you don't buy Fallout 3, you'll end up on the terrorist watch list.

Does anyone else get the feeling of no hope for humanity when you hear the nonstop gauntlet of ignorance from the masses? I swear.

Ohhh great! Now this comes out.......well, at least is not like the times when former President "Warren G. Harding" was in office or maybe from the times when former President "Ulysses S. Grant" had the corruption going on without him realizing it...actually, this time, it might be worse than both combine! Talk about repeating history......but hey, I like our chances! Even if we might get invaded(1812) or starting a war that probably might not make sense(Mexican-American war)...yeah, we'll be fine, LOL!!

And by the way, I'm buying 2 copies for both systems of Fallout 3! LOL!!!

And now I am one step closer to giving up on America as a failed experiment.

Posted by TheDoctorWc3 - Thursday, May 29, 2008 6:12 PM
something that popped into my mind

(President Bush)
"HAH YOU MISSED ME! See that Daddy?! I told you them Al-Kada basterds cant shoot worth ( | )
Can we nuke them back? What? We are out of nukes? How the hell can that be, we just had 400 of em.
(Enter the General)
"Sir, dont you remember? You had us sell 380 nukes to Iran."
(B)"Well that about the other 50?"

(G) You turned those into a giant slinky....

(B) oh yeah, I love my new toy, Call the crane, I wana play with slinky

*Afterpost*
If that gets turned into an episode of Lil Bush, somehow involve Lil' Hitler

Sweet graphics! I can't believe we've degenerated to the point where no one takes responsibility for their own actions. If it were up to some people we'd have no freedom to think for ourselves at all.

Posted by BobBobson108 - Thursday, May 29, 2008 6:14 PM
And if some image wasn't found, and wasn't investigated, and then we all got blown up, all you liberals would STILL be complaining because you are so wrapped up in this lemmings-style way of arguing that the only real reason you have to argue is because the guy next to you is. I swear all you people seem to care about is arguing and complaining. Conservatives think liberals are wrong, and liberals think conservatives are evil. Furthermore, G4, you should be ashamed of yourself for not presenting this article in an unbiased way. I thought this was a news blog! "...example of just how clueless some of the people responsible for our national security are." I can't believe you wrote that! You better check yourself Patrick Roche-Sowa.

Obviously it is a couple of pictures that emboldens terrorism. It has nothing to do with the last 60 years of horrible foreign policy. SITE should be looking at their own government not at some game publisher. Seriously we have been helping create dictators, theocracies, and destroying them all at the same time. We have nothing but our foreign policy to blame for terrorism.

Fallout is NOT an RPG.

I wish people who supposedly knew about games would stop adveristing Fallout as an RPG. The game is first person and has real time combat. If the combat is not turn based/party based/menu command based it is NOT an RPG

Is SITE an organization of our Government, or are they civilians...

This is a first i heard of them...

Posted by typhonic - Thursday, May 29, 2008 8:43 PM
@PS3Darklighter

Ever heard of an Action RPG? They do exist.

@JMShan88

Yes my faith in humanity has been dropping faster than the US dollar.

@BobBobson108

I seriously hope I missed the sarcasm. Do you honestly believe that a picture from a video game is going to embolden (God I hate that word)terrorists more than say occupying their countries and killing their families?

BTW I don't think conservitives are evil, just ignorant and misguided.

The next thing you know is that they will pull Iron Man because it might give 'the terorists' ideas and classify it as "sensitive military secrets". If humanity makes it to the end of this century w/o going nuclear, I will be suprised...

Posted by jargy1 - Friday, May 30, 2008 1:30 AM
I'm pretty sure all of you are missing the point they were making. A supposed terrorist site was using the picture to embolden their recruits and give them ideas. I didn't see anything where the government was trying to ban such images or put everyone related to it on a watch list or anything. All of you are going completely overboard about this.

I say Bethesda should sue for copyright infringement or something. See if they show up in court.

Posted by SonicNiGHT - Friday, May 30, 2008 3:03 AM
Rachel Ray is a terrorist....didn't you see the commercial?

"Hey, let me get an iced ALAHLAHLAHLAHLatte, thanks. (pulls out a bag of grenades)"

Just for the record, I would gladly blow up Washington DC if it meant getting rid of the idiots running our country right now. Put my comments on the news, I'll defend them live if you want.

Personally....as much as it kills me to say it, sometimes I kinda wish one of those 9/11 planes slammed into the damn white house. Anybody with me on that one? Nobody who died that day deserved it and everyone speaking and acting so stupidly on their behalf in the government does.

Posted by Bellamorte - Friday, May 30, 2008 5:10 AM
If I were Bethesda I'd milk all the publicity I could out of it.

Posted by hetman - Friday, May 30, 2008 7:16 AM
Fallout 3 better be a rpg turnbased game. Screw it if is not. The last two were RPG turnbased games. Why would they change it? Those two games are two of the best games ever released.

Posted by unexplainedbacon - Friday, May 30, 2008 7:41 AM
the only terrorism Rachael Ray instills is when she's terrorizing Batman

Posted by Straticus - Friday, May 30, 2008 7:41 AM
Looks like The Feed is getting more and more like CNN everyday, so sad...

Posted by anonomousperson - Friday, May 30, 2008 10:00 AM
One of two things will happen, either we will nuke the world first or the world will nuke us first. Either way, we're nuked.

Posted by BobBobson108 - Friday, May 30, 2008 10:21 AM
Thank you jargy1

and no capthavic I did NOT say that. I'm saying they are just doing their JOB and all of you people are up in arms about it for no damn reason. If they didn't find the image I'm sure you'd complain about them being too lazy instead of too thorough. Seriously there is just no pleasing you people.

Posted by capthavic - Saturday, May 31, 2008 12:30 AM
@BobBobson

And how is an image from a video game going to embolden a terrorist? Like the idea of nuking DC didn't cross thier minds UNTIL they saw that picture?

This sort of thing isn't helping America, it's just plain and simple fear mongering.
