Google held an event to discuss open source development for their platforms with coders, but the real star of the show was Android, their mobile OS.
Android, which is expected to make big waves when it is finally released, will have to put up a fight against Apple's iPhone. The iPhone will most likely be in its second generation when Android hits shelves.
Some of the key features on display were a slick Google Maps application with Street View support, custom touch gestures, and a Webkit-enabled web browser.
Google better raise the profile of Android in the coming weeks as all signs point to a 3G iPhone announcement very soon.
